What you will do:
We’re looking for a positive, professional Personnel Services Specialist - SES to join our Human Resources Office. This role supports key leave and support programs including FMLA, FSWP, Sick Leave Transfer, Workers’ Compensation, and Military Leave for a department of over 12,000 employees.
How you will make an impact:
- Review and process requests for FMLA, FSWP, Sick Leave Transfer, Workers’ Compensation, and Military Leave to ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures, while upholding employee rights and responsibilities.
- Conduct in-depth research and analysis across all HR programs to deliver effective support and guidance to supervisors and managers.
- Accurately document all calls, requests, and actions in the appropriate tracking systems, and actively monitor and follow up on ticketed items to ensure timely resolution and recordkeeping.
- Prepare and send correspondence regarding Leave Management matters.
- Create and maintain spreadsheets, logs, processes, and documents using Excel, Word, the People First system and other applicable databases to ensure accurate and up-to-date records related to leave.
- Assist with special projects with responsibility for providing input for developing solutions to Human Resource issues or concerns. Communicate the Departments concerns and expected results to project teams engaged in researching issues.
Qualifications:
- One year of professional Human Resources experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of computer software including applications (i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Knowledge of the Department’s (DCF) and Department of Management Services' (DMS) Personnel rules, policies, and procedures as it pertains to FMLA, FSWP, the Sick Leave Transfer Plan, Worker's Compensation and Military Leave.
- Knowledge of People First.
- Knowledge of research methods and tools, personal computers, data collection and analysis.
- Skilled in business professional written and verbal communication.
- Skilled in research techniques, analysis, and operating personal computers.
- Skilled in time management.
- Skilled in learning strategies using multiple approaches when learning.
- Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques and make independent decisions.
- Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to compose correspondence.
- Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques.
