The Work You Will Do:
This is a professional position responsible for performing payroll and other personnel functions of the Department of Business & Professional Regulation. The incumbent in this position ensures payroll activities are carried out in accordance with the Bureau of State Payroll's (BOSP) policies and procedures, Florida Statutes, and internal agency policies and procedures.
Your Specific Responsibilities:
Duties include, but may not be limited to:
- Process Personnel Action Requests (PARs) for regular FTE/OPS positions for assigned divisions, ensuring actions are processed accurately and in the specified time frame. Actions include new hires, promotions, demotions, transfers, pay increase or decrease or employee separations.
- Monitors for employee overpayments through the use of payroll over/under reports and leave without pay reports; notifies employees of overpayments and arranges repayments. Research and processes additional pay/stop payment actions as appropriate.
- Conducts leave audits for terminal leave payouts for all separating DBPR employees.
- Processes employee transfer reports and requests for dual employment. Monitors overlapped positions status.
- Leave and Attendance Coordinator for agency.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

- Ability to conduct fact-finding research.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of information.
- Knowledge of and ability to use the State’s human resource information system.
- Knowledge of Chapters 112 and 110, Florida Statutes.
Minimum Requirements:
The Personnel Services Specialist - SES should possess the following:
- Experience performing payroll activities such as, utilizing FLAIR for cancellations; Leave payouts; On demand payments; and/or agency approvals.
- Experience with Leave and Attendance rules and administration.
- Experience with assisting employees with benefit information.
- Experience processing information using a computer system.
- Experience conducting research and analyzing information to make decisions.
Preferred:
Preference will be given to those with two or more years of experience in State Personnel System administrating a payroll program, a benefits program, and/or Flair usage and People First Personnel systems.
