DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This is a professional, Personnel Service Specialist - HR/SES position that manages the biweekly and supplemental payrolls for the Department of Juvenile Justice.
The incumbent will formulate and assist in the development of policies and procedures relating to Payroll. Establish procedures to ensure that appropriate time frames in the payroll area are met.
This position requires someone who works independently, but also well with other HR Liaisons in the agency. This position audits records in People First and the FLAIR system before and after payroll has posted to ensure accuracy.
Warrant cancellations, salary overpayments, and on-demands will be processed by this position to ensure employees are paid accurately and timely.
This position is responsible for the collection of salary overpayments from employees due to leave of absence (LOA) and/or leave without pay (LWOP). This incumbent is responsible for calculating and requesting reimbursement of all overpayments in FLAIR and the People First system.
Conduct bi-weekly reviews of employee terminations to ensure that all required documents have been received and processed by the Bureau of Human Resources. The incumbent shall contact the appropriate hiring manager/HR liaison to obtain any missing documents.
Ensure that all leave payouts are completed timely and accurately. Review prior leave payment history to prevent overpayments.
Maintains confidentiality of Human Resource matters as well as confidentiality of client-related information. This may include requests for FMLA, FSWP, and other sensitive matters including Labor Relations and employee conduct.
The position serves as backup to the Attendance and Leave area.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
At least one year of experience working in a Payroll position.
At least one year of experience using an HRIS (e.g., People First or PeopleSoft).
At least one year of experience interpreting laws, rules, policies and procedures.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preference will be given to candidates with the following:
Experience providing customer service.
Experience using the Florida Accounting Information Resource (FLAIR) system and People First system.
Experience using Microsoft Excel.
Experience in processing payroll transactions.
