ADVERTISING TITLE: Personnel Technician III

 

This open competitive advertisement is for an OPS (Other Personal Services) position located at Central Office in Leave and Attendance.

 

As someone working in Leave and Attendance, our mission is to accurately manage and record employee leave and attendance. We ensure that all staff members' time is tracked efficiently, policies are adhered to, and any issues are resolved promptly to support the overall functioning of the Florida Department of Corrections.

 

This position is not a Telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Mastering Microsft Office: Use Excel, Word, Word, and Outlook to process important correspondences efficiently and accurately.
  • Managing Workers' Compensation: Receive, verify, and maintain workers' compensation documents and files, ensuring everything is in perfect order.
  • Guiding Employees: Provide expert guidance on workers' compensation to Payroll, Benefits staff, and Local Human Resource Representatives, making sure everyone is well-informed.
  • Collaborating with Key Players: Work closely with field staff, employees, supervsors, the workers' compensation carrier, and the Division of Risk Management to ensure smooth operations.
  • Liaison and FMLA/FSWP Processing: Act as the go-to contact for the Office of Human Resources, connecting with various departents and entities. Review and process FMLA/FSWP requests, ensuring eligibility and offering consultative assistance to employees.

BENEFITS: 

OPS employees who work an average of 30 hours or more per week are eligible to enroll in state group insurance plans. Standard PPO/HMO Options include:

    • Employee Only: $25 biweekly
    • Spouse Program: $15 biweekly
    • Employee & Family: $90 biweekly.
  • Dental - FDC offers five separate dental plans with multiple options and rates for each plan type with monthly premiums as low as $12.64.
  • Vision - FDC offers one single vision plan through Humana with monthly premiums as low as $5.92.
  • Life - FDC offers a $25,000 group term life insurance plan to eligible OPS staff through Securian at the low monthly premium of $3.78. When enrolled in basic life, employees may also elect child life and spouse life insurance plans.
  • Retirement - As an OPS employee, the Florida FICA Alternative Plan with Corebridge Financial affords you an excellent opportunity to help accumulate money for a secure retirement. You contribute 7.5% of your compensation to this tax deferred plan. All OPS employees are required to participate in this plan and are automatically enrolled.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience processing Workers Compensations and FMLA.
  • Experience processing timesheets.
  • Experience in customer service.
  • Experience with database/systems.
