At the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (DHSMV) we are committed to providing highway safety and security through excellence in service, education and enforcement.  Our nearly 4300 members around the state are dedicated to fulfilling this mission and positively impacting the safety and wellbeing of all Florida residents and visitors. 


As part of the Recruitment team, you will play a critical role in the recruitment and selection of DHSMV members.  Our goal is to attract and hire quality candidates through a talent acquisition strategy that balances agency need, candidate experience and compliance requirements.


What will I be doing?

Work collaboratively with hiring managers to assess position need, develop effective selection criteria and write effective job advertisements.  Utilize traditional and creative recruitment tools and sourcing strategies to identify and attract quality candidates.  Represent DHSMV at recruitment events, networking events and other agency branding and outreach opportunities.


Provide guidance, training and support to hiring managers through each stage of the selection process from screening to background checks to help facilitate an efficient, fair and consistent process, as well as, to help drive exceptional hiring decisions.  Evaluate hiring, promotion and other appointment requests to ensure compliance with applicable laws, policies and procedures.  Ensure proper documentation of recruitment, selection and appointment activity.


Recommend and help implement changes that enhance, streamline or simplify recruitment processes, approaches and tools.  Provide data for the utilization and monitoring of key recruitment metrics.  Conduct research and assist in the development and implementation of tactical initiatives to meet Department talent acquisition and retention objectives.

Special Notes:

  • The position you are applying to is subject to a Level 2 background along with CJIS security clearance, to include fingerprinting as a condition of employment pursuant to Chapter 110.1127, 435 and 943, Florida Statutes.  As an applicant for positions requiring CJIS security clearance, you are required to disclose criminal records that have been sealed or expunged. 


General Information:

  • The elements of the selection process may include a skill assessment and/or oral interview.
