This is a highly professional position responsible for local marketing and media initiatives and reports to the Bureau of Tobacco Free Florida Marketing and Health Communications Manager. This position serves as the Marketing Specialist for Tobacco Free Florida (TFF) and is responsible for assisting in the planning, coordinating, and implementation of local marketing and health promotion activities and campaigns, media projects and special assignments. This is a tobacco-free position. 

 

Manages Tobacco Free Florida media files, media use requests and customizations for the local county media submitted by local county program providers. Serves as a liaison for local media/initiatives with the contracted media/advertising agency.

Manages the Tobacco Free Florida Policy Outreach Resources (PORT) project, including coordinating internal planning calls, reviews and finalizing materials, and works with DOH Communications Office, as needed, on approval of PORT materials. Serves as the liaison for TFF State and Community Interventions Coordinators with the contracted media/advertising agency.

Provides media updates through statewide provider webinars, workshops and through e-mail distribution, as needed.

Manages and maintains internal communications and distribution. Develop, compile, and distribute the quarterly Tobacco Free Times Newsletter. Maintain and update distribution list for TFF Daily newsletter. Manages requests and provides technical assistance for TFF Media Hub accounts. Works with the contracted media agency to ensure all distribution lists remain accurate and up to date.

Coordinates and provides media and marketing orientation and training to program County Providers.

Assists in the coordination of TFF campaign materials, media projects and special assignments.

Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned or required

  1. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to work independently, plan and develop programs or components, understand and apply rules, regulations, policies and procedures and supervise staff.  Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.  Use of marketing strategies and other techniques to sustain a tobacco prevention and cessation mindset in youth, high risk groups and the general public. Knowledge of marketing and media principles. Ability to plan and implement effective media campaigns.

 

Qualifications:

Minimum – 1-3 years of marketing, advertising or communications related work experience. Bachelor’s degree.

Preferred – A candidate fluent in both English and Spanish (verbal and in writing) is preferred, but not

required.
