Position Responsibilities:

 

Reconciliation:
•    Reconciles State Comptroller's ledgers and FLAIR; including appropriations, approved budget releases, receipts, and disbursements on a monthly basis and following the year end close-out. 
•    Demonstrates a working knowledge of accounting entries to assist various sections in correcting entries to bring accounts into balance. Provide detail guidance on the problem entry as well as the correcting entry to F&A staff.     
•    Reconciles monthly purchasing card transactions.
•    Reconciles weekly investment balances.
•    Responsible for researching accounting problems. 

 

Cash Management:
•    Reconciles outstanding vouchers to available cash by fund each day. 
•    Prepares investment vouchers and draw-downs as necessary.
•    Responsible for preparing vouchers for state employees' insurance claims.
•    Responsible for monthly entries (TR 10) for Special Purpose Investment Accounts.

 

Participation in Year-End Financial Statement Preparations:
•    Prepares year-end adjusting entries as directed by the Bureau Chief or Professional Accountant Supervisor.
•    Completes assigned statewide financial statement forms.
•    Reconciles interfund transfers.

 

Assists the Professional Accountant Supervisor with general accounting issues and specially assigned projects:
•    Prepares annual Internal Financial Statements.
•    Backup Retirement Accountant in their duties.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
•    Proficient user of Microsoft Office Suite. 
•    Access DBF and FLAIR.
•    This position requires sedentary work and repetitive motion.
•    Integrity, Communication, Respect, Excellence, Accountability, Teamwork, Empowerment.

 

Minimum Requirements:
•    Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
•    Three years of accounting related experience.
•    Experience using FLAIR.
