SPECIAL NOTES:
A high school diploma or its equivalent is required.
Preferences:
- Two (2) years of professional experience in accounting and auditing, including auditing contracts for compliance.
- Three (3) or more years of professional experience in applying and interpreting laws, rules, and agency policies.
- Three (3) or more years of experience working with a State agency within the State Personnel System.
- Three (3) or more years of professional experience reviewing and analyzing State Agency contracts and agency agreements.
- Experience conducting audits.
- Experience with management studies, programs, procedures, and assigned special projects.
- Proficient in Microsoft (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in accounting, finance, or related field.
Minimum Qualifications for this position include the following REQUIRED ENTRY LEVEL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of accounting and auditing principles, theories, and concepts. Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments. Ability to examine, audit, and evaluate financial records. Ability to research, understand, and apply Florida Statutes, administrative rules, policies and procedures, and other guidelines governing agency contracts, grant agreements, and related disbursements. Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques. Ability to conduct audits and prepare audit reports. Knowledge of Microsoft Office software applications. Ability to research and interpret accounting literature, rules, and pronouncements. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language, including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar. Ability to effectively communicate information verbally and in writing. Proficient in Microsoft Office software - Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
This position does not support the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) Optional Practical Training (OPT) program.
This position requires a security background check, including fingerprint as a condition of employment.
Employees of the Department of Financial Services are paid on a monthly pay cycle.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
Conducts audits of State funds based on established audit plans and work programs. Provides written summaries and reports documenting the work performed, communicates the review results, and identifies noncompliance with State laws, rules, and Department guidelines.
Assists with performing management studies of state entities, programs, and processes, complete assigned special projects, and communicate the results to management. Assists in producing reports, correspondence and other work papers that accurately reflect the scope, objectives, and methodology used during the audit.
