SPECIAL NOTES:

Additional requirements:

  • One (1) or more years of experience in accounting and / or auditing financial data.
  • One (1) or more years of experience in preparing or reviewing Financial Statements.

 

 Preferences:

  • Experience managing projects.
  • Experience participating as a team member in the completion of a major project.
  • Experience working with Governmental accounting records.
  • Experience with data reconciliation.
  • Experience conducting reviews of financial reports for government affiliates.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office applications (Excel, word, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with User Acceptance Testing (UAT).

 

This position requires a security background check, including fingerprint as a condition of employment.

 

The starting salary for this position is $49,839.59.

 

Employees of the Department of Financial Services are paid on a monthly pay cycle.

Minimum Qualifications for this position include the following REQUIRED ENTRY LEVEL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of accounting and auditing principles, theory, and concepts, knowledge of accounting systems, knowledge of accounting and auditing practices, knowledge of internal control concepts, knowledge of computer systems concepts, knowledge of external financial markets and conditions, knowledge of other specialized programs or functions, ability to analyze and interpret complex financial data, ability to utilize automated spreadsheet applications, ability to research and interpret accounting literature, rules, and pronouncements, ability to perform cost/benefit analyses, ability to make present value calculations, ability to prepare financial statement workpapers and schedules, ability to prepare financial reports, ability to utilize problem-solving techniques, ability to communicate effectively, ability to analyze and evaluate accounting systems, ability to conduct audits and prepare audit reports, ability to review, analyze, and evaluate financial and operational data, ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments, ability to examine and audit financial records, ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

 

OTHER KSAs: This is professional accounting work involving the independent application of accounting and auditing concepts, principles, theory, and technical skills in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), and generally accepted auditing standards (GAAS). This position requires highly specialized knowledge of accounting and accounting systems, computers, and computer systems. This includes a working knowledge of personal computer applications, word-processing, spreadsheets, and database software. This position also requires knowledge of and the ability to understand, interpret, and apply laws, rules, policies, and procedures relative to financial matters and administration of governmental units and programs.

 

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

This is a professional accounting/auditing position within the Bureau of Financial Reporting (Local Government). This position will review and reconcile Local Government and court financial reports. This position will review legislation for effect on the Bureau and report to the Financial Administrator. This is a professional accounting/auditing position involving the independent application of accounting and auditing concepts, principles, theories and technical skills.
