SPECIAL NOTES:
Professional experience in accounting, finance, or other related field is preferred. A post-secondary from an accredited college or university with a major in accounting, finance, or other related field may be used as an alternative for the preferred experience on a year-for year basis.
Additional preferences:
- Experience auditing, analyzing and processing all types of disbursement transactions for compliance with Florida Statutes, Administrative Rules Attorney General Opinions, Chief Financial Officer/Comptroller’s Memoranda, and processing procedures
- Experience auditing, analyzing, and processing complex contracts/grants with a focus on contract deliverables, method of payment, and scope of work.
Incumbent of position is a member of DFS’ Disaster Response Team and, in that capacity, may be required on short notice to perform duties and necessary attendant travel in support of disaster relief efforts.
The work hours for this position is 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
This position requires a security background check, including fingerprint as a condition of employment.
The base annual salary for this position is $49,839.59
Employees of the Department of Financial Services are paid on a monthly pay cycle.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING REQUIRED ENTRY LEVEL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Ability to understand, interpret and apply State & Federal laws, rules and regulations, policies and procedures. Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques. Ability to work from a concept and develop logical conclusions and recommendations. Ability to effectively communicate information verbally and in writing. Ability to independently plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Proficient in Microsoft Office.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
This is a professional accounting/auditing position involving the independent application of accounting and auditing concepts, principles, theory and technical skills. This position is responsible for independently auditing and processing more complex journal transfers, complex contracts, and all types of disbursements.
Audits, analyzes and processes all types of disbursement transactions for compliance with applicable Florida Statutes, Administrative Rules, Attorney General Opinions, CFO/Comptroller’s Memoranda, and processing procedure of the Bureau of Auditing.
Audits, analyzes and processes complex contracts/grants with a focus on contract deliverables, method of payment and scope of work.
