ADVERTISING/WORKING TITLE: PROFESSIONAL ACCOUNTANT SPECIALIST
This open competitive advertisement is for a Career Service position located at the Central Office in the Finance & Accounting Department.
The mission of a Professional Accountant Specialist is to ensure financial integrity and compliance through diligent auditing, comprehensive training, and effective coordination. We strive to support our team and agency by managing procedures, analyzing data for informed decision-making, and maintaining transparent compliance reporting.
This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.
JOB DUTIES:
- Vendor Payment Audits: Conduct monthly post audits on a sample of vendor payments to include AOD, WORKS, STMS, Contracts, and FLAIR invoices
- Staff Training: Trains new staff in the Bureau of Finance and Accounting
- PALM Training Coordination: Coordinates with Florida Palm liaisons to create and conduct PALM trainings and job aids. Will also be responsible for conducting internal PALM trainings.
- Audit Inquiries: Assist in responding to post audit and duplicate payment inquiries from the Florida Department of Financial Services.
- Procedure Management: Helps manage and update the bureau’s procedures in collaboration with various units.
- Project Assistance: Support agency-designated projects as directed by supervisors.
- Data Analysis and Reporting: Analyzes data and create management reports for review and audit purposes.
- Compliance Monitoring: Creates and manages compliance dashboards and monitors post payment compliance reports.

REQUIREMENTS:

- Must possess a high school diploma or its equivalent AND three (3) years of experience in accounting, auditing, or finance OR
- Must possess three (3) years of postsecondary education AND one year of experience in accounting, auditing, or finance.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Accounts payable/disbursement and MFMP experience.
Support of knowledge, skills, and abilities should be demonstrated on the application, in the education, in the work experience, in the work sample, in the interview and/or during reference checks.
