ADVERTISING TITLE: PROFESSIONAL ACCOUNTANT SPECIALIST

This open competitive advertisement is for a SES (Selected Exempt Service) position located at Tallahassee, FL in Southwood in the Central Office.

The purpose of the Professional Accountant Specialist is to supervise and support the MFMP/AOD Region 2 & 4 Team by managing workloads, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, training and motivating staff, resolving issues, overseeing financial processes, and providing accurate reporting and support to ensure efficient and effective operations.

This position is eligible for telework up to three days per week after meeting training and metric requirements.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Plan and manage staff workloads, deadlines, and work objectives to use time and resources efficiently.
  • Make sure payments and account reconciliations follow all rules, laws, and agency guidelines.
  • Communicate regularly with employees, help solve problems and provide training to improve job performance.
  • Prepare reports and data analysis for management, and support staff, vendors, auditors, and other customers with accounting needs.
  • Evaluate, motivate, and counsel employees, maintain required training hours, and ensure compliance with year-end financial activities.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must possess a high school diploma or its equivalent AND four years of experience in accounting, auditing or in computer systems analysis which involves accounting or auditing data.
