This open competitive advertisement is for a SES (Selected Exempt Service) position located at Central Office in the Office of the Inspector General.
The mission of the Office of the Inspector General (OIG) at the Florida Department of Corrections is to protect and promote public integrity and accountability within the Department through investigations, audits, and inspections. We aim to detect and prevent fraud, waste, abuse, and misconduct, ensuring that the Department operates efficiently and effectively while upholding the highest standards of ethical conduct.
This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.
JOB DUTIES:
- Lead and Inspire: Supervise and motivate a team of professional accountants to ensure top-notch work quality and productivity.
- Master the Audit Process: Oversee all audit phases, from planning and fieldwork to drafting concise, accurate reports with actionable recommendations.
- Investigate and Review: Conduct thorough investigations and program reviews, presenting clear and precise reports on findings.
- Strategize and Plan: Efficiently plan workloads, set objectives, and manage resources to meet deadlines and achieve goals.
- Evaluate and Develop: Regularly evaluate employees, provide training, and assist in preparing comprehensive reports and annual audit plans.

REQUIREMENTS:

- Four (4) years of professional audit or accounting experience.
- Postsecondary education may substitute for up to two (2) years of the required experience.

BACKGROUND SCREENING REQUIREMENT
