PROFESSIONAL ENGINEER I - 37002018

• Knowledge of environmental, civil, hydraulic, agricultural or water resource engineering and/or hydrologic, hydraulic, hydrogeologic, and stormwater management principles and practices.  

• Ability to review and evaluate engineering reports, permit applications, technical studies, design plans, and environmental modeling analyses for regulatory consistency and technical adequacy.  

• Ability to interpret and apply Florida Statutes, administrative rules, policies, technical guidance documents, and permitting criteria related to mining, mitigation, reclamation, and ERP activities.  

• Ability to conduct field inspections, site evaluations, and technical assessments of mining, reclamation, stormwater, and ERP project sites.  

• Ability to provide technical assistance and guidance to Department staff, permit applicants, consultants, engineers, and stakeholders.  

• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, including the preparation of technical correspondence, reports, and regulatory comments.

Minimum Qualifications:  

• Valid Driver License. 

• State of Florida Professional Engineer License. 

• At least 5 years of verifiable related experience in environmental, civil, hydraulic, agricultural, mining, geotechnical, or water resource engineering, registration with the State of Florida as a Professional Engineer and one year of subsequent experience directly related to the field of stormwater, mining, geotechnical, or environmental engineering. Post secondary degrees from an accredited college or university with a major in engineering may be used as an alternative for the required years of experience on a year for year basis.  A credential evaluation report from an approved agency must be submitted along with all foreign degrees.

Position of Special Trust Requirement: 

This position is designated as a Position of Special Trust in accordance with DEP Directive 422, Positions of Special Trust or Responsibility. Successful completion of background screening will be required for this position. 

Pay: 

Starting Salary Range: $65,000 - $71,400  

Starting salary is based on qualifications and experience.
