Your Specific Responsibilities:

This is a responsible, professional position with the Florida Department of Health, Division of Children’s Medical Services, Bureau of Early Steps and Newborn Screening, and will be supervised by the Senior Management Analyst II- SES.

 

Extract and analyze early intervention service data for the Early Steps program, as well as requests other programs within the Division of Children’s Medical Services. Prepare and compile data related to infants or toddlers with disabilities receiving early intervention services under IDEA Part C for federal reporting, as required by USDOE.

 

Work with Early Steps program vendor(s) and staff to coordinate data requests and provide ongoing consultation and technical assistance to users, management, vendors, and technicians to determine information management needs and system requirements. Identify program needs for future system improvements.

 

Develop and implement process solutions for collection, analysis, and dissemination of data, both for management use and to ensure quality data for state and federal reporting. Create and maintain tracking systems for data requests, technical assistance, and system updates. Analyze and identify patterns and trends to determine if targeted and/or intensive technical assistance is needed.

 

Monitor national/state changes to medical claims billing practices to ensure applicable procedure and diagnosis codes are current within the Early Steps system. Maintain the Early Steps Program Fee Schedule in coordination with Florida Medicaid billing rules.

 

Travel is required for this position. Incumbent may be required to work before, during and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency. Emergency duty required of the incumbent includes working in special needs or Red Cross shelters, or performing other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to or threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster, man-made or natural.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Basic understanding of modern database technologies. Technical competence in operating computer software (Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Word, and Excel). Ability to review, classify, categorize, prioritize, and/or analyze data and/or information. Functional capacity to independently research business-related information using the internet. Familiarity with medical claims management and billing procedures. Knowledge of confidentiality rules. Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral formats. Teamwork skills necessary to work collaboratively within the unit.

 

PREFERENCE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s degree in the field of human services, education, public health, social work, public administration, computer science, information technology or a related field (relevant experience on a year-for-year basis can substitute for specific degree requirement)

• Three (3) years of professional experience with cleaning, organizing, and transforming raw data into reports using data analysis/visualization software (e.g., Excel, Access, PowerBI, etc.)
