Job Description


This position is responsible for providing direct quality customer service via the Educator Certification Telephony system from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. This position requires excellent communication skills and the ability to accurately answer an acceptable rate of calls in a high volume work environment.

Employee’s time and effort are assigned to a dedicated function as is indicated on the monthly payroll.

The employee must be productive under tight timeframes, balance multiple and competing priorities and maintain goal-directed behavior and performance sometimes under stressful conditions.

The employee must interact courteously with others.

The employee’s performance and behavior must demonstrate consideration of the workload concerns of others and must not negatively affect productivity and morale of the unit.

 Attendance is an essential function of this position.  Provides and explains information regarding all aspects of the certification process via the telephone system.

 Accesses and updates certification database as appropriate for each caller’s file

 Identifies and routes production errors to supervisor for appropriate corrective action.

 Seeks assistance for unusually complex telephone calls.

Performs other duties as required.

Knowledge, skills and abilities, including utilization of equipment, required for the position: Knowledge of Florida State Board of Education Rules and procedures governing issuance of Educator’s Certificates and renewal of certificates. Thorough knowledge of the application process. Skills in keyboarding, updating database files, operating imaging system and operating telephone system. Ability to organize work activities, handle difficult situations to prevent problems. Ability to prepare forms for computer entry, to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

The individual in this position must be highly responsible and dependable, must have excellent attendance and be extremely punctual.
