The purpose of Florida educator certification is to support the academic achievement of our students by assuring that our educators are professionally qualified for highly effective instruction. DESCRIPTION:
In this position, the candidate will serve as a certification evaluator to process credentials to determine eligibility for an educator’s certificate pursuant to Florida Statutes, State Board of Education Rules, and Department/Bureau policies covering all subject areas. In this capacity, you will assume critical responsibilities related to the implementation of the requirements of state laws specifically as defined by Florida Statues and State Board of Education Rules.
• The employee must be productive under tight timeframes, balance priorities and maintain goal-directed behavior and performance sometimes under stress.
• The employee’s performance and behavior must demonstrate consideration of the workload concerns of others and must not negatively affect productivity and morale of the unit.
• The employee must interact courteously with others.
General Responsibilities:
• This position requires in-depth analytical skills, great attention to detail, the ability to work independently, and the ability to attain an acceptable rate of accurate production in a high-volume work environment.
• This position requires familiarity with Florida Statutes and State Board of Education Rules governing the educator certification process.
• This position must assist with the intake of correspondence, applications, ensuring that all documents are accurately entered into the Bureau of Educators Certification database system as needed.
• Attendance is an essential function of this position.
Specific Responsibilities:
• Ongoing training to obtain and retain knowledge of Florida Statutes and State Board of Education Rules.
• Responsible for reviewing and evaluating credentials to determine eligibility for Endorsements and Temporary/Professional certificates.
• Research and analysis of college programs and courses for applicability to meet specific educator certification requirements established in State Board of Education Rules.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Knowledge of Florida State Board of Education Rules and procedures governing issuance of Florida Educator Certificates.
• Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
• Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments.

BACKGROUND SCREENING REQUIREMENT
