Job Description

The Program Specialist III position provides technical assistance to the Senior Educational Program Director and Office of K-20 Articulation to facilitate the efficient and effective transfer of students through Florida’s Early Learning through K-20 educational system. The position provides support relating to Florida’s Course Code Directory (CCD) and Personnel Assignments, the Florida Automated System for Transferring Educational Records (FASTER), and the Articulation Coordinating Committee (ACC).

Duties and Responsibilities

The Florida Department of Education (FDOE) has an open position that is responsible for executing the following functions:

  • Coordinate and maintain reports and resources of elementary/secondary courses and programs in support of Florida’s public schools and career centers.
  • Coordinate the review and approval process for K-12 course proposals with department standards and certification staff, within established timelines.
  • Provide technical assistance for meetings, including scheduling and advertising meetings, securing meeting space (physical, virtual and/or telecommunications), preparation and dissemination of meeting materials, and drafting of official meeting minutes.
  • Create, develop and prepare documents for web posting or public dissemination in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
  • Manage office information provided to education agencies, students and the education community as it relates to subject matters covered by the Office of K-20 Articulation.
  • Provide customer service and technical assistance to school district and career center certification, curriculum and information system contacts, as well as other education stakeholders and constituents, orally and/or in writing. This includes, but is not limited to, preparing emails, responses to CorrFlow assignments, general inquiries, public records information, research requests and data requests.
  • Oversee and coordinate the annual publication of the Florida Counseling for Future Education Handbook.
  • Assist the Executive Director and Senior Educational Program Director in oversight of articulation systems, and in service to the ACC and the Commissioner of Education.
  • Assist in the planning and evaluation of all phases of the Office of K-20 Articulation.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Two years of experience in organizational management and/or program planning.
  • Two years of experience using Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Section 508 of the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance.

    • Annual Leave - All full-time Career Service employees filling established positions earn annual leave in varying increments dependent upon years of creditable service. Employees with up to 5 years of creditable service earn 8.667 hours per month, with 5 to 10 years earn 10.833 hours per month and those with over 10 years of service earn 13 hours per month. Employees in Senior Management Service and Selected Exempt Service positions are credited with 176 hours of annual leave upon appointment. In subsequent years, the annual allotment is credited on the anniversary date of the initial appointment.
