DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Florida Department of Education (FDOE) has an open position that is responsible for executing the following functions:

 

  • Participates in the development and implementation of appropriate procedures.
  • Provides technical assistance to stakeholders in developing applications and amendments
  • Completes the technical and fiscal reviews of applications and amendments submitted for funding/approval
  • Prepares documents for the approval of applications and amendments process.
  • Issues project award notifications (grant award)
  • Maintain records on all grant programs and individual approved projects
  • Replicates federal entitlement allocation schedules using established formulas, timelines, and reporting requirements.
  • Maintain status information on assigned grants and prepare reports as needed.
  • Assists in the development of automated systems for planning, tracking, and managing assigned grant programs
  • Participates in work groups and special assignments to provide information, technical assistance, support, and training to school districts and agency staff regarding grant and program management.
  • Analyzes policy issues related to use of funds in entitlement and discretionary grant programs and provides recommendations for actions.
  • Prepares follow-up and response to findings of auditing and monitoring reports related to assigned discretionary and entitlement grant programs.
  • Works collaboratively with other Department units to support the efficient and effective management of assigned grant programs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

This position is responsible for performing full performance-level work under the limited supervision of the Senior Educational Program Director in the Grants Management Service Section, Bureau of Contracts, Grants, and Procurement Management Services, Division of Finance and Operations.  Position provides technical assistance to stakeholders, reviews applications and manages assigned grant programs. The ideal incumbent must be productive under tight timeframes, balance multiple and competing priorities, and maintain goal-directed behavior and performance sometimes under stressful conditions. The incumbent must interact courteously with others. The performance and behavior of all employees must demonstrate consideration of the workload concerns of others and must not negatively affect productivity and morale of the unit. Attendance is an essential function of this position.

 

 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Required Licensure/Registration/Certification/Experience or Education:

  • Ability to communicate effectively including verbal and written communication
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Preferences will be given to:

  • Applicants with experience in the Florida Grants System (FLAGS)
  • Applicants with budget and accounting experience

LEAVE INFORMATION:

  • Annual Leave - All full-time Career Service (CS) employees filling established positions earn annual leave in varying increments dependent upon years of creditable service. CS Employees with up to 5 years of creditable service earn 8.667 hours per month, with 5 to 10 years earn 10.833 hours per month and those with over 10 years of service earn 13 hours per month. Health Insurance for Individual or Family Coverage - State pays 80% of premium.  Life Insurance - State pays premium for $25,000 basic term life insurance for full time employee.
  • Sick Leave -. Career Service employees earn 8.667 hours of sick leave credits per month.     

 

BACKGROUND SCREENING REQUIREMENT

It is the policy of the Florida Department of Education that applicants for employment/volunteer undergo Level 2 background screening in accordance with the requirements of Chapter 435, Florida Statutes, as a condition of employment or being permitted to serve as a volunteer.
