The mission of the Office of K-12 School Choice is to support quality public and private educational choice programs by providing information and assistance to promote successful outcomes for students, families, institutions, and communities.

 

Job Description/Duties and Responsibilities

The Florida Department of Education (FDOE) has an open position for a School Choice Information Hotline Supervisor that is responsible for executing the following functions:

 

  • Provide accurate information to parents, private schools, districts, and Scholarship Funding Organizations (SFO) regarding the state K12 scholarship programs
  • Assist Director of Scholarship Programs with policies and procedures designed to improve the quality of customer service provided to all stakeholders.
  • Monitor receipt and response of communication for school choice office via schoolchoice@fldoe.org, respond to e-mail correspondence and Corr Flow items quickly and accurately.
  • Responsible for supervision, scheduling, interviewing, and training of Information Hotline staff.
  • Liaise with the SFOs for student eligibility and participation issues.
  • Maintain knowledge of all website information and functions and be able to assist other parties in using the website.
  • Represent the Office of K-12 School Choice at conferences and other training opportunities as requested by the Director of Scholarship Programs.
  • This position manages and directs confidential material, including student academic records, Social Security numbers, personal history of students, parent information, addresses and income levels, in addition to other pertinent data related to operating the various school choice programs as applicable in the State of Florida.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Four years of professional experience in an office setting
  • One year or more of supervisory experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to communicate effectively including verbal and written communication.

 

Preferred Qualifications

Preferences will be given to applicants who have knowledge of laws, rules, policies and procedures relating to K-12 educational programs and presentation experience.

 

Educational Substitutions

  • An associate degree from an accredited college or university may substitute for two years of experience.
  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university may substitute for three years of experience.

Leave Information

  • Annual Leave - All full-time Career Service employees filling established positions earn annual leave in varying increments dependent upon years of creditable service. Employees with up to 5 years of creditable service earn 8.667 hours per month, with 5 to 10 years earn 10.833 hours per month and those with over 10 years of service earn 13 hours per month.
  • Sick Leave - Career Service employees earn 8.667 hours of sick leave credits per month..
