Job Description

This is a highly responsible professional position responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing the state process for review and approval of teacher preparation programs.  Employee’s time and effort are assigned to a dedicated function as is indicated on the monthly payroll. The employee must be productive under tight timeframes, balance multiple and competing priorities and maintain goal-directed behavior and performance sometimes under stressful conditions.  The employee must be highly organized and interact courteously with others. The employee’s performance and behavior must demonstrate consideration of the workload concerns of others and must not negatively affect productivity and morale of the unit. Attendance is an essential function of this position.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate in a timely manner the continued approval process for the review and continued approval of all state-approved educator preparation programs. This includes all requirements outlined in Florida statute and the State Board of Education Rule.
  • The employee will design, develop, organize, and implement training programs and technical assistance for educator preparation programs seeking continued approval.
  • Coordinate the statewide process for the review and initial and continued approval of all state-approved Level 1 Educational Leadership Certification Programs implemented by postsecondary institutions or Florida public school districts, charter schools and charter school organizations.
  • Assist with the statewide process for the initial review of teacher preparation programs.
  • Assist in providing technical assistance for annual data collection in the eIPEP platform to all state-approved teacher preparation programs (initial teacher preparation programs (ITPs), educator preparation institutes (EPIs), Professional Learning Certification Program (PLCP), Educational Leadership programs, and Professional Training Options (PTOs).
  • Plan, coordinate, manage and monitor grant applications, projects and deliverables for assigned grants and contracts.
  • Collaborate with bureau staff in matters related to program and policy development that facilitates the improvement of teacher preparation programs, including State Board of Education Rules pertaining to educator quality.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Collaborate with institution contacts, coordinate data gathering and analysis, prepare reports.  Collaborate with Educator Preparation Unit staff in preparation of technical assistance materials and reports, coordination, and facilitation of technical assistance meetings, and assist in review and analysis of reports. 

Collaborate with Certification staff; prepare materials and reports. 

Build and maintain appropriate databases and prepare data reports. 

Collect and analyze information and prepare reports.

Ability to perform highly detailed analysis and communicate those details efficiently. 

Flexibility and organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.

Ability to produce accurate and timely information under tight timeframes, balance multiple and competing priorities, and maintain goal-oriented behavior and performance expectations.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.      

Knowledge of Policies, practices and procedures affecting ESE and related federal laws and regulations, state statues and rules.

Knowledge of Microsoft Office software, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel

 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher.
  • One to three years’ experience in education.
  • Ability to communicate effectively including verbal and written communication.

LEAVE INFORMATION: (CS)

    • Annual Leave - All full-time Career Service employees filling established positions earn annual leave in varying increments dependent upon years of creditable service. Employees with up to 5 years of creditable service earn 8.667 hours per month, with 5 to 10 years earn 10.833 hours per month and those with over 10 years of service earn 13 hours per month. Employees in Senior Management Service and Selected Exempt Service positions are credited with 176 hours of annual leave upon appointment. In subsequent years, the annual allotment is credited on the anniversary date of the initial appointment.
