This position provides technical assistance and support related to IDEA for families, schools, and stakeholders. Responsibilities include developing resources, analyzing student data, supporting compliance with state and federal regulations, and assisting in the planning and evaluation of programs for students with disabilities. The role also involves coordinating statewide trainings, IDEA State-Funded projects, and contributing to policy development and improvement efforts in exceptional student education.

The Florida Department of Education (FDOE) has an open position that is responsible for executing the following functions:
Technical Assistance and Stakeholder Support:
- Provides information, technical assistance, and support related to the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) to parents, families and stakeholders by responding to phone calls, Corrflow, electronic mail, and other requests.
- Maintains files, answers correspondence, and conducts technical assistance activities related to the IDEA, emotional disabilities, behavior/discipline, and special assignments.
- Develops, produces, or revises technical assistance documents, and other reports, resource manuals, and correspondence to foster the development and implementation of quality educational programs.
Program, Policy, and Compliance Support:
- Assists local schools, districts, and IDEA State-Funded projects in planning, development, and evaluation of programs for the improvement of instruction; and provides technical assistance to schools and district level staff, and instructional personnel regarding the needs of students with disabilities and their families.
- Assists in program reviews as needed for compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Provides assistance in the determination of critical student outcomes and in the accommodations and/or modifications and assessment strategies, which are appropriate for students with disabilities.
Project Coordination and Professional Collaboration:
- Assists in the revision of State Board of Education rules to ensure conformity with state statutes and federal legal provisions.
- Coordinates activities of assigned BEESS IDEA State-Funded projects.
- Participates with the development of the Exceptional Student Education Policies and Procedures (SP&P) document.
The ideal incumbent must be productive under tight timeframes, balance multiple and competing priorities and maintain goal-directed behavior and performance sometimes under stressful conditions. The employee must interact courteously with others. The employee’s performance and behavior must demonstrate consideration of the workload concerns of others and must not negatively affect the productivity and morale of the unit. Attendance is an essential function of this position.

Preferences will be given to:
- Applicants who have knowledge of laws, rules, policies and procedures relating to educational programs for students with emotional behavior disabilities (EBD).

LEAVE INFORMATION: (CS)
- Annual Leave - All full-time Career Service employees filling established positions earn annual leave in varying increments dependent upon years of creditable service. Employees with up to 5 years of creditable service earn 8.667 hours per month, with 5 to 10 years earn 10.833 hours per month and those with over 10 years of service earn 13 hours per month. Employees in Senior Management Service and Selected Exempt Service positions are credited with 176 hours of annual leave upon appointment. In subsequent years, the annual allotment is credited on the anniversary date of the initial appointment.

BACKGROUND SCREENING REQUIREMENT
It is the policy of the Florida Department of Education that applicants for employment/volunteer undergo Level 2 background screening in accordance with the requirements of Chapter 435, Florida Statutes, as a condition of employment or being permitted to serve as a volunteer.
