Job Description

This highly professional position is responsible for providing technical assistance for program/school improvement and monitoring school district and state agency programs to facilitate the increase of student achievement, the review of project applications/amendments, assist in the interpretation of appropriate federal/state laws, regulations, policies and procedures as related to educational disadvantaged and at-risk students in assigned regions.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist the Bureau of Federal Educational Programs (BFEP) and LEAs in implementing all aspects of the Title I, Part A program as prescribed in the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA).
  • Assist school districts in improving and increasing student academic achievement at all levels for educationally disadvantaged and at-risk students.
  • Participate in the development of program goals and objectives for the Bureau; recommend, implement, and administer methods and procedures to enhance the effectiveness of TIPA program processes, as appropriate to achieve the overall mission and vision of the Bureau.
  • Serve as primary liaison to assigned LEAs throughout the state on all matters that relate to program implementation and activities.
  • Provide training to ensure LEAs comply with requirements of the Title I Program as prescribed under the ESSA as well as assisting the district with meeting performance outcomes that increase student achievement.
  • Review the collection, compilation, and analysis of program activity data; develop, write, edit, and present comprehensive statistical and narrative program reports and evaluations.
  • Coordinate and support the review of program applications and amendments by the timeline established by the Department.
  • Conduct program-monitoring activities to ensure LEAs comply with provisions of ESSA and meet FDOE expectations.
  • Provide ongoing, timely technical assistance and support to LEAs to ensure compliance with all ESSA program requirements.
  • Assist LEAs with day-to-day problem solving, regarding program-related needs and issues.
  • Coordinate with other programs to improve teaching and learning for students attending schools funded by Title I.
  • Participate in staff/professional development training and workshops.
  • Create high-quality training materials and resources that relate to program activities and implementation.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required to support the mission and function of the Bureau.
  • Liaison between the Bureau Chief and the Committee of Practitioners (COP).
  • Editor/Proofreader for the BFEP (e.g., Technical Assistance Papers (TAPs), Resources/Tools: checklists, handbooks, manuals, guides, templates).

Ability to accurately prepare travel authorizations, travel reimbursement, and requisitions for purchase in a timely manner. 

Ability to make travel and hotel accommodations for Bureau personnel and department contract personnel. 

Knowledge of proper grammar and spelling of the English language. 

Ability to type letters, perform mail merge function, construct tables and construct labels in Word. 

Knowledge of how to organize and schedule meetings. 

Ability to organize materials for large mail outs, ability to operate fax machine, copiers and printers. 

Ability to diagnose and evaluate minor operation malfunctions on fax machine, copiers and printers.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • 1-3 years of clerical experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively including verbal and written communication.

 

Preferred Qualifications

Preferences will be given to applicants who have excellent writing skills, are proficient in using Microsoft Office software, and are equipped to organize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously.

LEAVE INFORMATION:

    • Annual Leave - All full-time Career Service employees filling established positions earn annual leave in varying increments dependent upon years of creditable service. Employees with up to 5 years of creditable service earn 8.667 hours per month, with 5 to 10 years earn 10.833 hours per month and those with over 10 years of service earn 13 hours per month. Employees in Senior Management Service and Selected Exempt Service positions are credited with 176 hours of annual leave upon appointment. In subsequent years, the annual allotment is credited on the anniversary date of the initial appointment.
