The mission of the Office of K-12 School Choice is to support quality public and private educational choice programs by providing information and assistance to promote successful outcomes for students, families, institutions, and communities.

 

Job Description/Duties and Responsibilities

The Florida Department of Education (FDOE) has an open position for a School Choice Data Manager that is responsible for executing the following functions:

 

  • Manage the appropriate collection, importing, management, and analyses of data to support the programs and initiatives of the Office of K-12 School Choice.
  • Supervise staff responsible for receiving, evaluating, and processing data from scholarship funding organizations.
  • Design, manage, and generate quarterly, annual, and accountability reports, technical reports, statistical briefs, and other publications relating to school choice from a range of data sources.
  • Serve as liaison between the Office of K-12 School Choice and the Division of Technology and Innovation staff.
  • Perform data research activities using spreadsheets, mapping and/or databases to provide information requested by the Executive Director and other office managers.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to understand and apply Florida Statutes and FDOE rules and policies
  • Ability to independently plan, organize and coordinate work assignments
  • Knowledge of sound data management practices
  • Ability to prepare, clear, concise and accurate records and reports
  • Knowledge of problem-solving techniques
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others

 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Four years of relevant experience
  • Intermediate level proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to communicate business information effectively and in writing to users and information technology personnel
  • Ability to analyze and interpret computer related data
  • Strong written and oral communication skills

 

Preferred Qualifications

Preferences will be given to applicants who have experience in business analysis, data science, or knowledge of laws, rules, policies and procedures relating to K-12 educational programs.

 

Educational Substitutions

A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a computer science field may substitute for two years of experience.

Leave Information

  • Annual Leave - Employees in Senior Management Service and Selected Exempt Service positions are be credited with 176 hours of annual leave upon appointment. In subsequent years, the annual allotment is credited on the anniversary date of initial appointment.
  • Sick Leave - Employees in Senior Management Service and Selected Exempt Service positions shall be credited with 104 hours of sick leave upon appointment. In subsequent years, the annual allotment is credited on the anniversary date of initial appointment.
