The Work You Will Do:

Project Manager / Strategic Services Office of Information Technology

 

The Project Manager leads IT projects from initiation to completion, overseeing planning, scheduling, resource allocation, and budget management. This role ensures compliance with Florida Department of Transportation and state requirements, manages risks and issues, prepares procurement documentation, and delivers clear status updates to stakeholders. The position requires strong coordination with Office of Information Technology staff and business partners, adherence to the Product Delivery Methodology, and active participation in policy development to ensure successful project delivery and alignment with organizational standards.

Your Specific Responsibilities:

Lead assigned Information Technology (IT) projects. Develop detailed work plans by defining project tasks and deliverables, estimating time and resource requirements, and building detailed project schedules including milestones, resources, dependencies, and critical paths. Secure and assign resources required for successful execution. Lead the development, management, and oversight of project budgets, including forecasting, cost estimation, and financial tracking. Prepare and deliver status reports, providing clear, data driven updates on progress, risks, issues, and financials to stakeholders. Oversee identification, documentation, and management of risks and issues for assigned projects. Create procurement documentation including, but not limited to Requests for Information, Requests for Quotes, Invitations to Negotiate, Invitations to Bid, and other supporting documentation, ensuring alignment with program requirements, compliance standards, and Florida Department of Transportation’s (FDOT’s) policies.

Direct and guide the work of other team members throughout all phases of assigned IT projects. Regularly monitor project progress, performance, risks and issues to ensure timely and accurate completion of deliverables while maintaining alignment with schedules and budgets.

Ensure all required project related documentation is created, monitored, maintained, and stored appropriately, to meet all state and Department requirements. Documentation to include Department of Management Services (DMS) requirements for 60GG, Procurement Documents, and Risks, Action Item, Issues, Decisions (RAID).

Communicate, coordinate, and work effectively with other Office of Information Technology (OIT) staff, business representatives, and management to ensure that information is properly disseminated, to facilitate the most efficient use of resources, successful project delivery, and/or task completion. Coordinate compliance with the OIT Product Delivery Methodology (PDM), providing guidance to project teams in all aspects of the methodology and deliverables, including the proper use of the PDM.

Monitor implementation and documentation of computer application systems in accordance with current Department standards and procedures.

Participate in the development and review of policies, procedures and standards within OIT.

 

The Successful Candidate will have the following required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of:

  •  Project Management principles and practices according to the Project Management Institute (PMI) Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK).
  • Information technology (IT), procedures, concepts, and techniques.
  • F.A.C. 60GG, rules 1 through 5. 

 

Ability to:

  • Work effectively in a fast-paced, high volume, deadline-driven environment.
  • Balance multiple demands and work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Lead, motivate, and work with diverse groups of people and teams.

  • Develop and manage documentation in accordance with the Department's standards.
  • Use Microsoft Office Suite and MS Project, familiar with computer basics.

Other Job-Related Requirements:

This position may be entrusted with access to confidential or sensitive data, with specific authorization from the Application Services Manager. This position is authorized to perform duties related to the production environment which requires a high level of trusted security.

Minimum Qualifications:

Seven (7) years of experience in business, data, or systems analysis and/or project management. Post-secondary education can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
