This is an internal agency employment opportunity for current employees, including OPS, of the Department of Financial Services, the Office of Financial Regulation, and the Office of Insurance Regulation.

 

 Requirements:

  • High School diploma or its equivalent.
  • Experience collecting, evaluating and analyzing data.
  • Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.

 

Preferences: 

  • Two (2) or more years of professional experience in the insurance industry or in the regulation of insurance. 
  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.  Further preference will be given if the degree is in Risk Management/Insurance.
  • Experience teaching, training, or giving presentations.
  • Experience organizing training material into a logical format for presentation.
  • Applicants who are fluent (verbal and written) in English and Spanish.
  • Experience writing reports. 

 

Minimum Qualifications for this position include the following REQUIRED ENTRY LEVEL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of the methods of data collection and analysis.
  • Knowledge of basic management principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of Florida Statutes and department rules governing licensure and regulation, and customer protection.
  • Ability to collect, evaluate and analyze data to develop alternative recommendations, solve problems, document workflow and other activities relating to the improvement of operational and management practices.
  • Ability to organize data into logical format for presentation in reports, documents and other written materials.
  • Ability to conduct fact-finding research.
  • Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures relating to operational and management analysis activities.
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.

SPECIAL NOTES:

 

The position will be filled at $52,530.00.  

 

Employees of the Department of Financial Services are paid on a monthly pay cycle.

 

The selected candidate may be required to work extra hours outside of the regular work schedule.

 

The selected candiate must be willing to travel, when necessary, within the state of Florida and occasionally overnight on short notice.

 

This position requires a security background check, including fingerprint as a condition of employment.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: 

(Incumbent of position is a member of DFS’ Disaster Response Team and, in that capacity, may be required on short notice to perform duties and necessary attendant travel in support of disaster relief efforts.)

 

Develop Training Materials and Train new employees in every aspect of their employment in the appropriate area of assignment including Applications, Records, Education and Customer Service (Analysis).

 

Perform quality audits of the Bureau’s varied functions per the Division/Bureau’s policy and procedures in accordance with Florida Statutes and administrative rules regarding:

  • The approval and maintenance of insurance agent, agency and adjuster licenses.
  • The administration of licenses continuing education requirements; continuing education courses and instructor approval/management.
  • The management of documents and records related to insurance licensing and licenses, continuing education, Regulator notifications and other varied records and documentation.
  • Measurement of staff’s customer service performance in regard to the appropriate levels of responsiveness, completeness of documentation, quality of service performed, accuracy of communications, and adherence to administrative procedures in response to emails sent to the Bureau and Helpline Calls.

 

Develop Policies and Procedures for the Applications Unit, Analysis Unit, Records Units, Education Unit and the Quality Audit/Training Unit.

 

Develop and deliver insurance regulatory training to Bureau staff members.

 

Develop training materials and provide training updates on existing policies and procedures, new policies & procedures and other regulatory updates.

 

Act as a Temporary Team Lead for any unit withing the Bureau of Licensing as needed and assigned, and to assist any unit in the Bureau with the workload, when deemed necessary, due to staff absences or a significant increase in volume of work due to any number of different reasons.

 

Draft Application Denials and Letters of Guidance.

 

Complete all RIRS reporting to NAIC.

 

Maintain, monitor and prepare reports on the Division’s Access Control.

 

Monitor and maintain employees’ CJIS expirations.

 

Update ALIS with all insurance company staffing updates (Form 14) when submitted from OIR.
