The Florida Department of Education (FDOE) has an open position that is responsible for executing the following functions:

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Employee’s time and effort are assigned to a dedicated function as is indicated on the monthly payroll.
  • The employee must be productive under tight timeframes, balance multiple and competing priorities and maintain goal-directed behavior and performance sometimes under stressful conditions.
  • The employee must interact courteously with others.
  • The employee’s performance and behavior must demonstrate consideration of the workload concerns of others and must not negatively affect productivity and morale of the unit.

 

General Responsibilities:

  • This position is responsible for processing all incoming fingerprint correspondence, application, and monies, and insuring that all documents are accurately entered into the Bureau of Educator Certification database and imaging system on a daily basis. 
  • This position assists the background screening specialist with review of result submissions, verification of proper alert statuses, and referral of applicant records for investigation by Professional Practices Services.
  • This position requires great attention to detail, the ability to work independently, and the ability to attain an acceptable rate of accurate production in high volume work environment.

 

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Accurately enters fingerprint statuses into the database and verifies that the proper processing fees have been paid.
  • Reviews all fingerprint correspondences and assigns appropriate correspondence code.
  • Efficiently organizes the work for daily entry into the database and imaging system.
  • Accurately scans and indexes all fingerprint documents into the database and imaging system in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Screens all fingerprint result submissions from all Florida Public School districts to ensure FDLE and FBI records are attached and that the background screening is acceptable according to established DOE policies and procedures.
  • Maintains records of fingerprint cards and applications received.
  • Verifies the quality and accuracy of all imaged documents, deletes substandard images, and re-scans as necessary.
  • Ensures completeness of hardcopy fingerprint cards and accurately enters fingerprint demographical data.
  • Scans all fingerprint cards through the electronic fingerprint submission process.
  • Keeps track of illegible fingerprint results and compiles correspondence to notify applicant.
  • Ensures proper redaction of nonpublic information on background screening results, applications, and other related materials.
  • Retrieves reports of certificate/licensure sanctions from other states via the NASDTEC Educator Clearinghouse and inputs appropriate alert records in the Certification system.
  • Meets with administrative and technician personnel to discuss problems involved in procedures and operations.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Attendance is an essential function of this position.

BACKGROUND SCREENING REQUIREMENT

It is the policy of the Florida Department of Education that applicants for employment/volunteer undergo Level 2 background screening in accordance with the requirements of Chapter 435, Florida Statutes, as a condition of employment or being permitted to serve as a volunteer. No applicant for a designated position will be employed or permitted to volunteer until the level 2 screening results are received, reviewed, and approved by the Department. Level 2 background screening shall include, but not be limited to, fingerprinting for statewide criminal and juvenile records checks through the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, and federal criminal records checks through the Federal Bureau of Investigation and may include local criminal records checks through local law enforcement agencies.
