JOB SUMMARY:

This is a Refund Audit Reviewer and Trainer - Tax Law Specialist position in the General Tax Administration Program's, Refunds and Revenue Accounting Process, Refunds Unit. The incumbent performs analysis of refund cases to determine tax law application or procedures. Additionally, the incumbent provides training, researches, analyzes, interprets and applies tax laws, rules, court decisions, and department policies. The incumbent also serves as a leader and may be required to appear in court as a witness.                                             

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Currently employed with the Florida Department of Revenue.                 
  • Six years of tax auditing experience.      
  • Experience with the System for Unified Taxation (SUNTAX).                      
  • Experience using Microsoft Word and Excel.

SUBSTITUTIONS:

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major course of study in accounting or a related field, such as business, political science, or a STEM discipline (science, technology, engineering, or mathematics) may substitute for four years of the required six years of tax auditing experience.

PREFERENCES:

  • Experience performing corporate tax and insurance premium audits within the General Tax Administration Program.
  • Experience researching Florida Statutes and Administrative Codes.

SPECIAL NOTES:

  • Documentation of education requirements must be submitted at time of application to proceed to the skills verification test. Failure to provide education requirements could result in removal from further consideration.

SALARY: The hiring salary for this position generally will not exceed $5,838.36 monthly/$70,060.32 annually.
