MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and three (3) years of professional or nonprofessional experience in administrative work, regulatory work, consumer complaint program work, interviewing, business administration, customer or public relations or investigations. 

Professional or nonprofessional experience as described above can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education. 

An equivalent combination of education and experience which equals seven (7) years can substitute for the above requirements.

Requires possession of a valid Class E driver license.

JOB DUTIES:

Reviews inspection report violations and reporting activities to ensure uniform and consistent application of applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.

Reviews re-inspection reports to evaluate violations and communicates with regulated industry to works closely to achieve compliance with applicable laws and regulations, including evaluation of corrective and preventive actions to determine compliance prior to enforcement.

Verifies and updates all contact information for business owner.

Prepares reports of findings and recommendations for corrective action.

Utilizes the Food Inspection Management System (FIMS) database system to maintain all correspondence with industry.

Prepares and administrative complaint cases and associated inspection documentation and provides recommendations to bureau chief and the Compliance (Enforcement) Section.

Secures, evaluates and documents evidence associated with inspections.

Acts as liaison between regulated industry and inspection staff on compliance actions.

Reviews new establishment actions to determine if they have met application requirements and determines if a denial letter is required.

Responsible for notifying businesses who have not made payment for food establishment permit.

Coordinates with business center to determine if new food establishment is approved for permit.

Liaison to hearing officer for bureau related informal hearings.

Evaluates programs and provides recommendations for improvements.

Develops and maintains compliance related policies and procedures.

Ensures conformance with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Manufactured Food Regulatory Program Standards (MFRPS), and Voluntary National Retail Food Regulatory Program Standards (VNRFRPS) Standard 6.

Provides support to state Hemp Program.

Provides assistance in an emergency response as directed.

Some tasks may require evening, weekend, and/or holiday activity, including overnight and/or extended travel.

Performs other related duties as may be assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • General knowledge of office procedures and practices.
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations and implementations of technical requirements.
  • Knowledge in the manufacturing of food products and processing technology.
  • Skilled in interacting with the public and staff through oral and written communication.
  • Skilled in using personal computer software including FIMS, Word, Excel, and Access.
  • Ability to be very organized in both office administrative/clerical activities and in implementing projects.
  • Ability to work both independently and with others.
  • Ability to use logic and analysis to identify different approaches to completing a task.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with others.
