Your Specific Responsibilities:
Incumbents in this position will make an immediate and meaningful impact in the lives of Floridians. They perform duties that guarantee qualified health care professionals can work in the state and provide all Floridians access to the health care they need to lead healthier lives. By increasing the number of licensed health care professionals in the state, incumbents also support those currently working in health care professions who are so critical in any public health emergency.
The incumbent will work in a professional, administrative setting and perform duties similar to customer service representatives, school registrars, medical records, billing, or coding specialists; data entry clerks, or other positions who ensure compliance with regulations or rules and provide professional assistance to members of the public. Knowledge or experience with any health-related field or relevant Florida statutes is helpful, but not required.
The incumbent will work with the Board of Nursing. Specific duties and responsibilities include:
- Review and process confidential information, including exam and endorsement applications for Certified Nursing Assistants.
- Providing general licensing status information and requirements, as well as relevant continuing education requirements and fees, to customers via written and verbal communication.
- Reviewing information in the Division’s Licensing and Enforcement Database (LEIDS) and associated software/online systems and websites, as well as statutory laws and rules, to provide a response to customer inquiries.
- Maintaining current information on licensees by independently reviewing documentation submitted by licensees, then accurately making the required changes in LEIDS and any other related systems to maintain proper records.
- Responding to licensees with written verification when a change has been completed as authorized and appropriate, while maintaining confidentiality.
- Recommending changes in policies and procedures for effective operations in the board office to the Program Operations Administrator, assisting in developing and implementing such policies and procedures, and performing other administrative tasks for them as needed.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge and ability to interpret Florida Statutes and administrative codes in regards to licensing and regulation of professionals and facilities, and consumer protection.
- Knowledge and proficiency of Microsoft Office software.
- Knowledge and proficiency in using Windows-based computers.
- Ability to learn and utilize job-specific software such as LEIDS and AxiomPro and office equipment such as phones, fax machines, scanners, and copiers.
- Ability to compile, organize, and analyze data.
- Ability to provide consultative assistance to others.
- Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work activities on a pre-approved work schedule.
- Ability to communicate and deal with people effectively.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
Qualifications:
Preference will be given to those who meet the following minimum requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent AND 2 years’ experience that includes data entry, document preparation, computer software use, evaluating legal documents or evaluating for compliance with regulations, customer service, or handling sensitive information.
- College education can substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
