Your Specific Responsibilities:

Incumbents in this position will make an immediate and meaningful impact in the lives of Floridians. They perform duties that guarantee qualified health care professionals can work in the state, so Floridians have access to the health care they need to lead healthier lives. Incumbents also support those currently working in health care professions who are so critical in our current and any future public health emergency by increasing the number of qualified health care professionals who can practice in the state.

Incumbents will work in a professional, administrative setting in the Florida Board of Medicine and perform duties like school registrars, medical records, billing, or coding specialists; office administrators, executive or administrative assistants, data entry clerks, or other positions who ensure compliance with regulations or rules and provide professional assistance to members of the public.

 

The incumbent will report to and assist the Regulatory Supervisor with specific duties and responsibilities related to evaluating and determining eligibility for licensure applications such as:

  • Independently performs duties related to the ongoing licensing of physicians in accordance with Chapters 456 and 458, F.S. and 64B8, F.A.C.  Promotes the Department of Health's policies on developing and maintaining an effective working relationship with others. Treats customers, the public and co-workers with courtesy, respect, dignity, fairness, honesty, and presents a positive public image.
  • Independently processes and maintains physicians’ electronic prescribing requests, requests to relinquish the Florida medical license administratively voluntarily, office closures / relocations, NICA questions, NICA retired affidavits, NICA judgements, internal liaison for dishonored checks.
  • Corresponding with applicants via writing to clarify concerns, to obtain additional information, to explain relevant statutes, applicable board rules, or processing procedures; and/or to notify of deficiencies and application status.
  • Being responsible for ensuring the accuracy of licensure information in the LEIDS database and reporting any errors to the supervisor.
  • Maintaining an electronic filing system through the document repository.

  • Ability to maintain pre-approved work schedule with minimal interruptions to workflow.

 

Qualifications:

Preference will be given to those who meet the following minimum requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent AND 2 years’ experience that includes data entry, document preparation, computer software use, evaluating legal documents or evaluating documents for compliance with regulations, customer service, and/or handling sensitive information.
  • College education can substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
