Your Specific Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for assisting the Regulatory Supervisor and Program Administrator in directing and coordinating with staff the licensure activities pertaining to certification of medical doctors and licensing in the State of Florida (Chapter 458, F.S., and 64B-8, FAC). This position evaluates applications and related documentation and is responsible for second reviews. Must have in-depth knowledge of the statutes, rules and policies, and the ability to make independent decisions.
Evaluates applications for full, unrestricted licensure of medical doctors in Florida by
endorsement/examination, using qualification and licensure criteria in accordance with Chapter 458, F.S. and 64B-8 Florida Administrative Code. Requests and obtains supplementary information, as required, from the applicants, medical schools, training programs, institutions, other state and federal regulatory agencies, state and national medical associations/societies, etc., in order to make a determination regarding eligibility for licensure. Reviews documents for authenticity, legal appropriateness and legality. Reviews transcripts, degrees, and other educational materials to determine eligibility for certification and licensure. Must be knowledgeable of the allopathic educational system in the United States, Canada and foreign countries.
Performs second reviews of licensure applications; independently evaluates credentials and makes the final determinations on eligibility for licensure. Provides recommendations to the Administrator and Supervisor on special licensure issues and regarding those applicants whose credentials warrant a personal appearance before any Committee of the Board.
Communicates verbally and in writing with applicants, medical educators, the general medical
community, institutions, state and federal regulatory agencies, state and national medical
associations, societies, and certification bodies. etc., regarding statutory requirements for licensure and the credentialing process. Provides applicants and potential applicants personal guidance regarding certification and licensure issues.
Provides training to new employees on reviewing and processing applications and related documents.
Serves on Department Committees as requested, and MQA committees, workgroups and project teams.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge and ability to interpret Florida Statutes and administrative codes in regards to licensing and regulation of professionals and facilities, and consumer protection.
- Knowledge and proficiency of Microsoft Office software.
- Knowledge and proficiency in using Windows-based computers.
- Ability to learn and utilize job-specific software such as LEIDS and AxiomPro and office equipment such as phones, fax machines, scanners, and copiers.
- Ability to compile, organize, and analyze data.
- Ability to provide consultative assistance to others.
- Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work activities on a pre-approved work schedule.
- Ability to communicate and deal with people effectively.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
Qualifications:
Preference will be given to those who meet the following minimum requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent AND 2 years’ experience that includes data entry, document preparation, computer software use, evaluating legal documents or evaluating for compliance with regulations, customer service, or handling sensitive information.
- College education can substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
