 Our Organization and Mission

 

The Bureau of Education and Testing is housed within the Division of Professions. The Bureau protects the health, safety, and welfare of the public by providing services to numerous boards, divisions, and professions regulated by the Department. The Examination Development and Administration Units are responsible for developing, preparing, scheduling, scoring, and managing examination administrations. The units also monitor national examinations and examinations contracted with private testing companies to ensure that all examinations meet appropriate measurement standards. The Continuing Education Unit monitors compliance with continuing education requirements, including pre-licensure and post-licensure education. Additionally, the Continuing Education Unit processes applications for education courses and providers and administers continuing education audits.

 

The Work You Will Do

 

This position is essential to Computer Based Testing (CBT) functions and monitoring responsibilities and research Florida Statutes and Administrative Codes in relation to the examination process, drafts correspondence, and prepares reports pertaining to the examination process, Statutes and Rules; assists in matters related to examination scheduling and confidential grade notification, interprets laws/rules/regulations and recommends procedures.

 

Your Specific Responsibilities

  • Schedules candidates for licensure examinations in accordance with department and board rules, and assigns candidate numbers, examination dates, time, and locations. Prepares and mails examination admission slips, grade reports, and pass/fail reports. Performs data entry, including recording examination information and results, and respond to customer inquiries regarding examination procedures.
  • Indexes and records pre-licensure education certificates into the department's document management system. Participate in pre- and post-examination planning meetings.
  • Process correspondence investigates subject matter and prepares responses to candidate inquiries and complaints related to candidate services, examination administration, and grade notification. Verifies application in Versa: Regulation and corresponds directly with customers, the Division of Technology, Division of Service Operations, interagency entities, and/or vendors.
  • Assists with research, and error solution and provides final report of error resolution findings with regards to all CBT professions. Error resolution reports shall be regarding scheduling, administration and grade reporting, post-exam reviews and statistical reporting for CBT examinations. Assembles and disseminates statistical information as requested.
  • Prepares, processes, and distributes all post examination information received from CBT vendor. Processes correspondence investigates subject matter and prepares responses to candidate inquiries and complaints related to candidate services, examination administration, grade notification and post-exam reviews.
  • Responsible for the research and application of Board rules, Department rules, and national association and vendor contractual guidelines to ensure compliance in development and implementation of procedures for CBT grade reporting, scheduling, administration, statistical reporting, and post-exam review processes.
  • Maintains evaluation documentation for contract files and calendar of scheduled deadlines. Schedules and prepares agenda and minutes for contract-related meetings with Vendor, Board, Technology, and Bureau staff.
  • Assists Management Review Specialist with implementation and monitoring responsibilities for CBT vendor contracts. Maintains CBT information and sends requests to knowledge champion to get published on the Bureau’s website.
  • Consults with department staff, professional boards, psychometricians, national councils and testing services to determine special requirements, gain understanding, and obtain examination materials. Performs related tasks as may be requested.

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to compile, organize and analyze date.
  • Experience working with Florida statutes and rules.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with others.
  • Basic internet research and navigation.
  • Basic grammar skills.

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must have a high school diploma and two (2) years of work experience.
  • Must have one (1) year customer service experience.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
