POSITION SUMMARY:

The Research and Statistics Consultant will play a critical role in providing data-driven insights and analysis to enhance operations, inform decision-making, and improve overall effectiveness. The Research and Statistics Consultant will collaborate closely with various departments within the agency and external to the agency under the guidance and supervision of the Manager of Criminal Justice Excellence. The Consultant will design research initiatives, collect and manage data utilizing tools such as SQL and SAS, and develop interactive dashboards using Tableau or Power BI to clearly communicate findings. Proficiency in data manipulation, dashboard creation, and effective data presentation is essential for transforming raw data into actionable insights that drive organizational performance.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Specific duties include:

  • Performing analytical work requiring ability to capture, clean, analyze and interpret data;
  • Creating and maintaining dynamic, interactive dashboards in Tableau or Power BI;
  • Translating analytical findings into clear, actionable reports and visualizations that effectively communicate trends and insights to all levels of the organization;
  • Creating queries; perform technical programming (SQL/SAS);
  • Utilizing a variety of sources to gather relevant data, including internal databases, external repositories, surveys, and interviews;
  • Implementing data collection protocols and procedures to maintain data integrity and accuracy;
  • Document analytical methodologies, data pipeline workflows, and dashboard development processes to facilitate reproducibility and continuous improvement;
  • Monitoring ongoing data trends and recommend enhancements to optimize data collection and reporting practices;
  • Providing analytical support for research projects in collaboration with researchers, analysts and other stakeholders as needed; and
  • Presenting findings to internal stakeholders, including command staff, officers, and specialized units.

 

 KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of methods for collection, analysis, and organization of data;
  • Ability to manage and organize large datasets, ensuring data integrity, and implementing data quality control measures;
  • Ability to analyze complex data sets, identify patterns, and draw conclusions from various sources of information;
  • Able to efficiently extract, clean, and analyze complex datasets using SQL and SAS, transforming raw data into meaningful insights;
  • Skilled in designing, developing, and maintaining interactive dashboards and visualizations using tools such as Tableau and Power BI;
  • Adept at presenting complex data findings through clear, comprehensible charts, graphs, and maps that facilitate informed decision-making;
  • Ability to collect, compile, organize, visualize and analyze data-familiarity with databases, statistical software, and other technological tools to manage and analyze large volumes of data efficiently;
  • Ability to prepare reports and to visualize data-present complex statistical findings and analysis in clear and comprehensible charts, graphs, maps, and other visualizations;
  • Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing to translating technical data findings into concise reports for non-technical audiences; and
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to align analytical insights with organizational goals.

 

BASE SALARY:

  • $66,950.00

BACKGROUND:

FDLE requires an extensive background process of all recommended applicants.
