Position Overview and Responsibilities:

As a Retirement Analyst II, you will preform data analysis to identify fraud or financial exploitation of payees receiving an FRS Pension Plan retirement benefit.  Data analysis may include listening to recorded phone calls, reviewing account activity, checking for online breaches, and other data gathering techniques.  Applies knowledge of fraud schemes, general areas of vulnerability, reimbursement methodologies, and relevant laws to find suspicious patterns in claims data and other sources.

 

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Perform manual authentications for FRS Online users including Legal Representatives, secure individuals and members who cannot access FRS Online after being assisted by a Contact Center representative.
  • Organizes data and prepares a written summary of investigative steps, conclusions, and recommendations with attention to detail and a high level of accuracy. Prepares clear and concise investigatory reports to support findings of potential fraud, financial exploitation, or breach of security in a format amenable to statistic gathering, cross-referencing and future monitoring.
  • Actively monitors accounts previously affected by fraud, financial exploitation, or breach of security.  Reviews reports listing high risk activities, such as multiple direct deposit or address changes, for potential unwanted activity.
  • Makes immediate recommendations to Administrator to secure retirement accounts and prevent any retirement funds from being diverted.

Minimum Qualifications:
Six years of professional experience in the area of insurance, retirement or social security, administration, call center, customer service, fiscal work, statistics, or personnel. A postsecondary degree may be used as an alternative for years of experience on a year-for-year basis.

The mission of the Division of Retirement (division) is to deliver a high quality, innovative, and cost-effective retirement system. The division currently has 225 full-time retirement staff and manages a FY 2024-25 operating budget of $48,864,720. The division administers the Florida Retirement System (FRS) Pension Plan, currently the fourth largest state retirement system in the US with more than 2.7 million active, retired, and terminated vested and non-vested members and $187.2 billion in assets. The division pays out $12.9 billion a year in retiree benefits and maintains the service history, vesting and membership status records, and collects nearly $5.5 billion annually in employer and employee contributions from more than 1,000 employers for all FRS members.
