 At the Department, we come into contact with nearly every Floridian, as well as, many visitors to our state. People get a driver license to operate their vehicles or for photo identification purpose.  They register and title their automobiles, mobile homes and boats. They may receive assistance from the Florida Highway Patrol if they are involved in a crash or their vehicle breaks down along Florida’s highways.

What will I be doing?

This Security Officer position will be responsible for providing security to the Neil Kirkman Building (NKB). Responsibilities will include authorizing vendors, visitors and member access to the Neil Kirkman Building. This position is also responsible for monitoring and responding to fire alarm panels, performing security parking lot patrols, interacting with law enforcement and the public and providing detailed security reports as needed.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Do you have a year or more of experience providing customer service?
  • Do you have knowledge, skill or experience using Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook?



Position Requirements

This position requires the incumbent to have and maintain a valid driver’s license in good standing. A driver’s license history review will be conducted on all candidates in consideration for the position.


The position you are applying is subject to a Level 2 background and CJIS security clearance, to include fingerprinting as a condition of employment pursuant to Chapter 110.1127, 435 and 943, Florida Statutes.  As an applicant for positions requiring CJIS security clearance, you are required to disclose criminal records that have been sealed or expunged.

General Information

The elements of the selection process may include a skill assessment and/or oral interview.


Applicants being considered for employment will be required to submit to a fingerprint-based background investigation, which will include a check of the criminal history records of the FBI.


The process for selecting applicant(s) for this position could take up to six months.  Following the six-month period, a new application must be submitted to an open advertisement in order to be considered for that vacancy.


HSMV employees are paid once a month on the last workday of each month.  All state employees are required to participate in the direct deposit program pursuant to s. 110.113 Florida Statutes.
