WORKING TITLE: SECURITY SYSTEMS AUDITOR

This open competitive advertisement is for a Career Service position located at Central Office in Tallahassee, FL in the Bureau of Security Operations.

The mission of the Bureau of Security Operations in the Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) is to ensure the safety and security of the public, staff, and inmates by implementing effective security measures and protocols.

This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.

 

JOB DUTIES:

  • Monitor and maintain electronic security systems, including Dart-Fired Electronic Immobilization Devices, Body Worn Cameras, Thermal Fence Camera Systems, Entry Management System, Drone Detection Systems, Electronic Use of Force System and future security technologies adopted by the Agency
  • Monitor system performance and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime. Respond promptly to system alerts, malfunctions, and security breaches and document incidents and corrective actions in accordance with agency protocols.
  • Develop and maintain user guides and standard operating procedures as needed.  Train agency personnel on proper use and handling of electronic security systems and provide technical support to field staff and operations teams for systems related issues.
  • Maintain detailed records of configurations, updates, and maintenance activities, prepare regular reports on system performance, incidents, and compliance status and assist leadership by retrieving and analyzing system data (e.g., video footage, device logs).
  • Collaborate with vendors and IT teams to integrate new technologies into existing infrastructure.
  • Participate in pilot programs and testing of current and future security systems and evaluate emerging security technologies and recommend adoption strategies.
  • Assist the Roster Management System Administrator (RMSA) in maintaining current approved electronic post charts for each institution and satellite units in the Roster Management System (RMS). Ensure security rosters align with approved charts and agency standards.
  • Assist the RMSA by reviewing and auditing institutional security rosters for compliance with staff utilization and gender policies. Prepare audit reports and provide training at the regional and institutional levels on roster preparation and system use.
  • Assist the RMSA by analyzing corrective action plans, verifying deficiency resolutions, and resolving complex security roster issues.
  • Act as a backup to the RMSA during periods of absence or extreme workload.
  • Perform related tasks as required to support Bureau operations and agency mission.

REQUIREMENTS:

Please note, when submitting a college/university degree, if selected for this position official transcripts will be required.

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a shift supervisor or higher within the Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) or another federal, state, or county correctional agency. (The shift supervisor ranks within FDC are Lieutenant and Captain.  Other agency rank structures may differ and will be considered individually.)
  • Experience with monitoring and operating electronic security systems in a correctional environment.
  • Experience administering or conducting security audits and operational reviews in a correctional environment.
  • Experience with collecting, evaluating and analyzing data and using operational data base systems.

Support of knowledge, skills, and abilities should be demonstrated on the application, in the education, in the work experience, in the work sample, in the interview and/or during reference checks.

BACKGROUND SCREENING REQUIREMENT
