This is an anticipated vacancy.
The Office of the State Courts Administrator (OSCA) is seeking qualified applicants who possess the leadership skills and legal education and experience necessary to assume the responsibilities of a Senior Attorney II within the Office of the General Counsel (OGC). The OGC addresses legal issues relating to the administration of the State Courts System (SCS), provides legal advice to the OSCA, the Florida Supreme Court, and SCS. This position assists the Florida SCS in complying with all applicable state and federal laws and regulations by providing legal research, analysis, counsel and representation to the Supreme Court, the Office of the State Courts Administrator, state courts system, and Supreme Court committees. The position generally operates within the following subject matter areas: providing representation for the SCS in garnishment proceedings; ensuring that SCS judges and court employees have necessary legal representation; conducting legal research and analysis; drafting rule petitions; and providing staff support to problem-solving court committees. The position reports directly to the OSCA General Counsel and engages in other tasks or legal issues as assigned by the General Counsel, the State Courts Administrator or the Florida Supreme Court.
EXAMPLES OF WORK
Provide legal support to the Office of Problem-Solving Courts, Court Emergency Management Team/Group, and other Court committees, as requested.
Conduct legal research and provide appropriate correspondence.
Provide counsel and advice to the Supreme Court, Office of the State Courts Administrator, and State Courts System on employee and branch-related ethics matters.
Monitor and analyze civil and branch-related legislation.
Coordinate the handling of public records requests.
Education and Training Guidelines
The successful applicant must possess a Juris Doctorate degree, be a member in good standing of the Florida Bar and have at least three years of experience in the appropriate specialty area of law for the position.
Strong preference will be given to candidates who have criminal law experience, possess strong legal writing and research skills, or have extensive experience with or knowledge of Florida State Courts System operations.

Special Comments
The Florida State Courts System is a criminal justice agency. The successful applicant will be fingerprinted for the purpose of conducting a criminal history record check. Employment in this position is contingent upon a satisfactory criminal background check.
In accordance with Section 110.205(2)(c), Florida Statutes, positions with the Florida State Courts System (judicial branch) are not covered under the Career Service System. All employees of the Florida State Courts System are at-will employees and serve at the pleasure of the appointing authority and do not attain tenure rights.
