Job Description
This position provides legal oversight and legal support to the Office of Family Courts. The position ensures that sound legal principles are applied to policy decisions affecting family court case types (dependency, delinquency, domestic violence, and domestic relations). The position also serves as lead staff for the DIY Florida Project–an online interview process that generates court pleadings for self-represented litigants—and includes supervising two DIY staff members.
The position is familiar with statutes, rules, and caselaw for all of these aforementioned family court case types. This position provides leadership and oversight of legal matters within the Office of Family Courts. The typical duties include researching and drafting legal memoranda; responding to requests for information and legal analyses; providing information on legislative matters and their impact on the court system; and providing staff support to statewide governance groups. This position also serves as lead staff for the DIY Florida Project — an online interview process that generate court pleadings for self-represented litigants.
This lead staff role includes supervising two staff members, a systems analyst I and senior attorney I, who work on the project, as well as directing implementation efforts of the project. This position also oversees and creates legal training and technical assistance resources for all family court case types.

Education and Training Guidelines
Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school is required for this position.
Five years of related work experience, including three years of experience in the appropriate specialty area of law for the position.
