The mission of the Office of K-12 School Choice is to support quality public and private educational choice programs by providing information and assistance to promote successful outcomes for students, families, institutions, and communities.

 

Job Description/Duties and Responsibilities

The Florida Department of Education (FDOE) has an open position for a Private School Assistant that is responsible for executing the following functions:

 

The person in this position performs administrative and clerical duties in support of the Private Schools and Scholarship Programs staff in the Office of Independent Education & Parental Choice, including but not limited to following:

  • Assist in managing the operation of private school registration including assigning school codes and corresponding with private school administrators regarding the procedure for opening a private school, the registration process, and submitting the annual survey
  • Provide customer service by answering calls and prepare written correspondence to private schools and the general public regarding private school registration, accreditation, closures and the location of records and transcripts
  • Scan documents related to private schools, converting them to searchable text and maintaining files
  • Route documents received to appropriate staff members
  • Assist with record archiving process
  • Perform related duties as required

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Preference will be given to applicants with at least one year of previous part-time or full-time employment in an office setting.

Educational Substitutions

  • An associate degree from an accredited college or university may substitute for up to two years of experience.
  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university may substitute for up to four years of experience.

BACKGROUND SCREENING REQUIREMENT
