The Senior Clerk-OPS position in the Office of Commission for Independent Education assist with requests for student academic records (transcripts) and other educational materials; conducting searches of the Commission Information Management System (CIMS) for the optical images of any applicable data, verifying that any confidential information is matched to the requester; answering phone calls; and developing correspondence to respond to individuals that have complaints and other issues regarding the issuance of their student academic records from CIMS.
*This position is not approved for telework and must report to the location listed above.

The Florida Department of Education (FDOE) has an open position that is responsible for executing the following functions:
- Answers a multi-line telephone console, answers general questions, directs calls to the appropriate staff member, and takes messages as required.
- Works independently in the areas of records management by prepping and scanning files to be stored, retrieved, maintained and secured.
- Enters data, verifies required documentation is included and imports documents related to licensed schools and complaints against licensed schools as needed.
- Assists with reviewing documents related to public records requests that need to be reviewed for accuracy or redacted due to personally identifying information.
- Assists management with generating reports and tracking complaints as needed.
The ideal candidate must be productive under tight timeframes, balance multiple and competing priorities and maintain goal-directed behavior and performance sometimes under stressful conditions. The incumbent must interact courteously with others. The performance and behavior of all employees must demonstrate consideration of the workload concerns of others and must not negatively affect productivity and morale of unity. Attendance is an essential function.

- Ability to communicate effectively including verbal and written communication
- Ability to travel
- Ability to provide work samples of writing skills for grammar, editing and communication review
- One-year clerical experience

BACKGROUND SCREENING REQUIREMENT
It is the policy of the Florida Department of Education that applicants for employment/volunteer undergo Level 2 background screening in accordance with the requirements of Chapter 435, Florida Statutes, as a condition of employment or being permitted to serve as a volunteer.
