Job Description

Following a planned orientation to the Leon County Health Department, the Senior Clerk works in all generalized settings of the health department. The Senior Clerk is an independent position that performs a variety of front desk activities requiring knowledge and skills in interviewing clients, preparing client information and maintaing appointment sechedules. Work is performed under the direct supervision of the Senior Clerical Supervisor.

 

Responsible for answering a multi-line telephone system promptly, courteously and with proper office identification. Identifies clients’ needs through a variety of questions via phone or in person making appointments using the HMS system. Works closely with the supervisor to ensure appointment schedules are up to date and accurate. Complete eligbility for muliple program, including PEPW and Family Planning Medical Waiver.

 

Works collaboratively with all front desk staff to assist with distributing accurate information, preparing medical records and preforming cashiering functions.

 

Incumbent may be required to work before, during and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency.  Emergency duty required of the incumbent includes working in special needs or Red Cross shelters, or performing other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to or threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster, man-made or natural.
