POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for mentoring and supervising members of the MEPIC night shift and managing the daily activities of all positions assigned to this unit. The incumbent will work closely with the Special Agent Supervisor (SAS) using established policies to prepare analytical reports, projects, and assessments.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Specific duties include:
- Assigning projects and manage workload of the MEPIC night shift;
- Reviewing work products produced in MEPIC;
- Training current and new members on all aspects of MEPIC;
- Managing, planning, direction, or coordinating activities for research and analysis of missing and endangered persons cases;
- Planing and directing research, development, and production of statewide missing and endangered persons alerts;
- Reviewing alert activities, preparing and reviewing research, testing, and operational reports to ensure our time sensitive reporting systems are running accurately and efficiently;
- Confering with local authorities, subject matter experts, and others to plan and review alerts, and to provide technical assistance with missing and endangered person cases; and
- Position may require working holidays and weekends.
To be considered as a potential candidate, you must meet the minimum qualifications(s) listed below. Degrees must be from an accredited college or university as recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and five years of analytical experience in criminal intelligence, military intelligence, national or homeland security intelligence, crime analysis, or investigative experience in a law enforcement agency.
- A master’s degree in criminology, law enforcement intelligence analysis, national or homeland security intelligence, crime analysis or comparable discipline; or a professional certificate in one of these disciplines can substitute for one year of the required experience.
- Any combination of education or experience, as described above.
- Vocational/technical training in the area of law enforcement, or college coursework from an accredited institution can substitute at the rate of 30 semester or 720 classroom hours per year for the required education.
Completion of the FDLE Law Enforcement Analyst Academy (FLEAA) within two
years of hire date.
Note: 30 semester hours, or equivalent, of coursework from an accredited college or university is equivalent to one year of experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of project management techniques and tools;
- Knowledge of research techniques and process;
- Knowledge of the methods of data collection and analysis;
- Knowledge of basic management principles and practices;
- Ability to collect, evaluate, and analyze data to develop alternative recommendations, solve problems, document work flow and other activities relating to the improvement of management practices;
- Ability to manage people and projects;
- Ability to meet deadlines and effectively give and/or carry out direction;
- Ability to solve problems and make decisions;
- Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments;
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; and
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with others.
