SPECIAL NOTES:

Four (4) years of experience in Computer Science or Information Technology-related field, such as cybersecurity, programming, computer science, engineering, or related field is preferred. A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Technology-related field, such as cybersecurity, programming, computer science, engineering or related field may substitute for the preferred experience. An associate degree in cybersecurity, programming, computer science, engineering or related field may substitute for two (2) years of the preferred experience.

 

Requirements

  • Five (5) years of experience as a mainframe DB2 Data Base Analyst.
  • Five (5) years of experience as an application programmer with preference in DB2 related products.

 

This position may be required to occasionally perform duties other than those listed on the position description.

 

The annual salary range for this position is $80,000.00 to 90,000.00. 

 

Employees of the Department of Financial Services are paid on a monthly pay cycle.

 

This position requires a security background check, including fingerprint as a condition of employment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING REQUIRED ENTRY LEVEL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of Relational database, DB2 data base.
  • Knowledge of Monitoring software BMC, TMON.
  • Knowledge of programming, Cobol, REXX, CLIST, SQL.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret highly technical information relating to computer programming, hardware, software, and telecommunications.
  • Ability to be a team player in large and small groups (consensus building).
  • Ability to communicate technical data processing information effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to communicate with developers in order to solve database related problems.
  • Ability to assist in the design of data base systems.
  • Ability to evaluate database designs or efficiency and usability.
  • Ability to document problems, solutions, and enhancements.
  • Ability to generate JCL for running of batch jobs.

 

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

This position will assist in the transformation of logical accounting (FLAIR) information requirement models to physical databases. 

 

Understand, use, and support selected modeling and data access tools in the analysis of customer’s information requirements from FLAIR and Worker’s Comp.

 

Evaluate customer’s requests for new data elements and systems, and incorporate them into the existing shared data environment, and maintain the data dictionary containing all metadata for the enterprise.

 

Coordinate use of the organization’s data to ensure data integrity and control redundancy.

 

Analyze and propose changes to database structures and aid in design and review design of the physical database.

 

Cross-train new ADABAS DBA in DB2 and Predict.

 

Develop and control the procedures necessary to save, retrieve, and recover data bases for hardware and/or software failure.

 

Set up and/or execute the jobs necessary to save, retrieve, and recover data bases and maintain data base access and update procedures to ensure proper control of the data bases.

 

Determine data base storage requirements, create / Refresh test data base environment for applications section.

 

Process Remedy tickets for DB2.  Monitor data base performance and recommend efficiency improvements.
