The Work You Will Do:

This position serves as a System Administrator position in the Division of Information Technology (IT). This position is responsible for installing/configuring, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software related to the infrastructure. These activities include technical strategy, technical analysis, and support of staff in executing, testing and rolling-out solutions. This individual will be accountable for the Linux and Windows systems that support the infrastructure.

Your Specific Responsibilities:

This position serves as a System Administrator position in the Division of Information Technology (IT). This position is responsible for installing/configuring, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software related to the infrastructure. These activities include technical strategy, technical analysis, and support of staff in executing, testing and rolling-out solutions. This individual will be accountable for the Linux and Windows systems that support the infrastructure.

  • Analyzes system logs and identifies potential issues with computer systems.
  • Performs routine audits of systems hardware and software.
  • Performs routine daily maintenance on Windows and Linux servers.
  • Maintains system standards to ensure operational requirements, quality requirements, security requirements, and design constraints are addressed.
  • Documents and maintains environment specifications, support procedures, and other system-related information.
  • Monitors systems for potential issues and optimum performance.
  • Applies operating system updates, patches, and configuration changes.
  • Verifies stability, interoperability, portability, security, or scalability of system changes.
  • Installs and configures new hardware and software.
  • Adds, removes, or updates user account information, resetting passwords, etc.
  • Answers technical queries and assists users.
  • Troubleshoots any reported problems and recommends appropriate solution.
  • Works in a team environment.
  • Performs administration of patch management, deployment, and vulnerability remediation tools.
  • Performs security vulnerability remediation, tracking, and reporting.
  • Manages multiple tasks and small projects as well as service requests and incident resolution.
  • May guide or provide work direction to technical staff, contract staff, and/or OPS staff.
  • May act as team/technical lead or perform coordination of project tasks.
  • Performs records requests per agency guidelines.
  • Adheres to policies, procedures, and ITSM practices.
  • Responsible for Azure cloud environment management and support duties.
  • Responsible for Cloud platform administration, including migration of our Enterprise servers and services to the Azure cloud platform, administration of Enterprise applications/systems, including Tableau, Alteryx, print services, SFTP services, VPN and file sharing solutions, data migration, security hardening of systems, capacity management, and updating associated process and procedures.
  • Lead as SCCM/QualysPM administrator, which includes support for SCCM and QualysPM tools, which are used to deploy and manage Microsoft server and third-party patches and vulnerability remediation.
  • Performs other job-related duties and responsibilities as assigned by the team supervisor.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Skilled in the administration of latest Microsoft Server operating systems, and Linux server operating systems.
  • Knowledge of Azure systems administration.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Active Directory administration.
  • Proficient in administration of DNS, DHCP, DFS, and Microsoft Cluster Service.
  • Proficient in supporting large scale production environments.
  • Proficient knowledge of TCP/IP and networking fundamentals.
  • Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills.
  • Working knowledge of IT Helpdesk, Client Support, and 1st level Support.
  • Working knowledge in administration and support of Office 365.
  • Knowledge of application load balancing.
  • Knowledge of software and infrastructure load balancing technology.
  • Ability to work with large-scale development projects.
  • Ability to perform OS patching, updates, configuration changes, and smoke testing.
  • Ability to lead a technical team and coordinate project tasks.
  • Proficient knowledge of MS IIS, .NET framework, and software/ code deployment.
  • Knowledge of VB Script, Linux shell scripting, Azure CLI, and PowerShell.
  • Knowledgeable in administration of MS SCCM, Qualys PM, and Azure DevOps.
  • Fundamental knowledge of MS SQL.
  • Proficient knowledge of Enterprise Anti-Virus solutions.
  • Working knowledge of batch processing and scheduling.
  • Knowledge of backup and restore procedures.
  • Knowledgeable in IT service continuity and disaster recovery.
  • Knowledge of virtualization technology, including Hyper-V and VMWare.

 

Qualifications:

As a condition of pre-employment eligibility, a Level 2 security background screening is required, which consists of fingerprinting and a check of local, state, and national law enforcement records. 

 

Minimum:

  • This position requires off-hours, on-call, and weekend rotation support.
  • Minimum one-year experience in administration of latest Microsoft Server operating systems, and Active Directory.
  • This position is required to be available for On Call duties.
