Duties and Responsibilities
This is a professional position responsible for assisting in the ongoing support and administration of the Department’s information security program. The person in this position will function as an Information Security Analyst, participating in vulnerability scanning and recommendations for remediation, continuous monitoring using Security Information Event Management (SIEM) tools, Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) tools, incident response management, formal risk assessments, and administration of security control solutions such as Email Security, Data Loss Prevention, Network Access Control, and Third Party Cybersecurity Risk Management. The selected applicant will also assist in formulation and maintenance of information security policies. The Department’s Enterprise Security Management Office utilizes several next-generation security services and tools to accomplish its core mission. The person in this position is a member of the FLHSMV Enterprise Security Management team, reporting to the Information Security Officer. Normal work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., although working on weekends and being on-call may occasionally be required.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 

  • Knowledge and experience with information security tools, services, and systems used to support an information security program within an organization.
  • Knowledge and experience in incident response, vulnerability threat assessment and mitigation.
  • Knowledge of operating systems as they relate to computer security and auditing.
  • Knowledge of networking protocols and network security methodologies.
  • Knowledge of Information Security concepts and best practices.
  • Knowledge of risk management processes – assessing and mitigating risks.
  • Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures and strategies that promote effective local, state, and/or national security operations for the protection of people, data, property, and institutions.
  • Knowledge and experience in business impact assessment and disaster recovery planning methodologies.
  • Skills related to identifying complex problems, reviewing related information and options, and developing appropriate solutions
  • Ability to develop, test and evaluate security controls.
  • Ability to communicate ideas effectively in verbal and written communications.
  • Ability to maintain confidential records.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

 

Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates with the following:

  • Information technology security
  • Network security, risk and vulnerability assessment and mitigation; vulnerability scanning
  • Managed security services systems, use of MSSP tools (EDR/MDR/XDR tools and solutions)
  • Security tools used to support an information security program

 

Job Related Requirements

  • The position you are applying is subject to a Level 2 background check, along with Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) clearance, to include a fingerprint-based check of the criminal records of the FBI, as a condition of employment pursuant to Chapter 110.1127, 435 and 943, Florida Statutes. Please note that, since this position requires CJIS clearance, the Department will have access to all an applicant’s criminal and juvenile delinquency records, even those that have been sealed or expunged.

General Information

  • The elements of the selection process may include a skill assessment and/or oral interview.
  • Applicants being considered for employment will be required to submit to a fingerprint-based background investigation, which will include a check of the criminal history records of the FBI. Fingerprints and associated information/biometrics will be retained in the FBI’s Next Generation Identification (NGI) system and fingerprints may continue to be compared against fingerprints submitted to or retained by NGI.
  • FLHSMV employees are paid once a month on the last workday of each month. All state employees are required to participate in the direct deposit program pursuant to s. 110.113 Florida Statutes.
