The State Courts System is seeking a qualified and experienced candidate for the position of Senior Internal Auditor.  This position reports directly to the Inspector General and is responsible for assisting the office in carrying out the responsibilities as prescribed in Section 20.055, Florida Statutes. This position serves as the lead auditor for conducting operational and performance audits and is responsible for independently conducting all phases of audits.   This position develops audit plans and programs, evaluates internal controls, evaluates compliance with applicable regulations, policies, and procedures, interacts with management personnel and prepares complex audit reports. This position may also conduct special projects and perform other administrative functions. 

 

Candidates must have internal or external audit experience.  Incumbent must be productive under stringent time frames and balance multiple priorities.  Professionalism and consistent attendance are essential functions of this position.

 

Minimum Job Requirements

Bachelor's degree or Master's degree, from an accredited university, in a business-related field is required (Accounting, Economics, Finance, Business Administration, Management), preferably with five (5) courses in accounting.  

 

Three (3) years of internal audit experience or external audit experience (as a lead auditor) is required (government preferred).

Preference will be given to candidates holding a Certified Public Accountant, Certified Internal Auditor or Certified Fraud Examiner designation.

 

Candidates will be subject to a work exercise as part of the recruitment process.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

 

Ability to independently conduct all phases of audits; ability to professionally communicate verbally and in writing; skill in collecting and analyzing qualitative and quantitative data; ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, statutes and rules; knowledge of accounting and auditing standards; ability to prepare complex reports, skilled in use of Word, Excel, Access and Power Point; ability to make effective decisions and utilize problem solving skills; and ability to maintain independence, objectivity and ethical conduct in work performed.

Statewide travel is required for this position. 

 

Valid driver’s license is required.
