This position serves as a forms analyst supervisor in the Office of Insurance Regulation's Life and Health Product Review Division which reviews forms filed with the Office for compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations. This position requires an in-depth understanding of life and health insurance; a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail; compliance with laws, policies and procedures; supervisory experience; and adherence to timeframes.
This supervisory position spends the majority of time managing a subdivision of the Life and Health Product Review Division by communicating with, motivating, training, and evaluating employees; plans and directs; and whose suggestions and recommendations as to hire, fire, advancement, promotion, or any other change of status of other employees must be given particular weight.
Actively supervises analyst positions and the work of such employees. Monitors workloads, productivity, quality of work, and that deadlines are met. Monitors employee attendance and professionalism in the workplace.
Independently evaluates internal review forms; refers to applicable statutes, rules, and regulations; and conducts peer review to ensure quality.
Independently determines if the following complex individual and group contracts are in compliance; life insurance, annuities, health insurance, health maintenance organizations, prepaid limited health services organizations, continuing care retirement communities, and viatical settlements, including their applicable contracts, forms, endorsements, riders, applications, and advertisements.
Effectively evaluates direct reports; encourages and initiates regular discussion of performance with staff; takes appropriate and time action with marginal or failing performers; recognizes and rewards good performance; and uses progressive and corrective discipline to improve performance/behavioral problems.
Assist with the development of new processes and technology. Trains employees in use of new forms, reports, procedures, and equipment.
Maintains working knowledge of statutes, rules, and regulations affecting insurance forms; keeps abreast of changes to applicable laws, rules and regulations; and provides input and proposes statutory or rule revisions.
Provides assistance to insurers, industry representatives, agents, and consumers seeking information regarding the regulation of insurance products and operations in Florida.
Performs related work and special projects as required.
