Your Specific Responsibilities:
This position is a highly responsible position in the Office of medical Marijuana Use OMMU). The incumbent works under limited supervision
and requires independent and solid decision-making skills.
This position serves as manager of the Planning and Assessments Section within the Office of Medical Marijuana Use and is responsible for providing management consultation services to improve management capabilities and operational procedures. The position works directly with cross-functional teams responsible for analyzing and presenting key strategic issues to senior leadership.
Responsible for all supervisory duties including, but not limited to, hiring and selection, developing performance plans, conducting performance appraisals, planning, and directing their work, approving leave, and taking disciplinary action as appropriate.
Oversees development processes and procedures of the program office. Conducts research of statute, rule, policy, and procedure changes to anticipate required changes to program areas. Manages the development of business processes that ensure appropriate prioritization and approvals for strategic initiatives.
Manage OMMU special projects for the Director. Utilize research results, strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership techniques and production methods to manage projects. Confer with managers and employees as needed to gather and evaluate information. Develop action plans to ensure that assigned projects are completed within required time frames. Prepare and disseminate reports of activities, studies and evaluations that are performed within the projects assigned to this position.
Oversees cross functional teams working on process improvement projects. Manages and facilitates process improvement projects identified/authorized by the Director or Deputy Directors.
Manages the development and implementation of all training needs for the office including onboarding, mentorship, individual professional development. Confer with managers to facilitate section trainings whether virtual, on-site, or off-site.
Responsible for coordinating with the Emergency Support Function-8 during public health and medical emergency support for the Office of Medical Marijuana Use. Serves as COOP coordinator.
Manages training needs, information dissemination, and trouble-shooting user problems for CLEAR. Attends CLEAR meetings to discuss changes and participates in user acceptance testing. Assists with developing trainings, testing, and information dissemination of changes to forms and letters in CLEAR.
Coordinates with team managers to determine reporting needs for process improvement and tracking performance.
Oversees the management and facilitation of the office recognition
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- including utilization of equipment, required for the position: Proficient computer skills to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook;
- knowledge of computer data bases; knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
- knowledge and use of the compliance management system and licensing system used by the Agency
- Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents;
- communicating effectively with others in writing; listening to what other people are saying and asking questions as appropriate
- knowing how to find information and identifying essential information;

Qualifications:
Licensure/registration/certification requirements (If applicable, list the appropriate Florida Statute or federal regulation cite): Possession of a valid Driver’s License
Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; AND/or Two (2) years of experience in developing plans for quality improvement; reviewing and analyzing statutory/regulatory requirements; evaluating processes, making recommendations for process improvement, and managing process improvement projects.
Two (2) years of supervisory, program management, or project lead experience.
Professional experience as described above can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education (6 years total professional experience).
Must have a valid Florida State driver's license, satisfactorily complete a background investigation, fingerprinting, and participation in direct deposit are requirements for employment.
