POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is required to work in an assigned office at headquarters under the direct supervision of the Director of Auditing. This position is SES under the provision of Section 110.205 (2)(w), Florida Statutes, as confidential. This position supports the functions of the Agency Inspector General and Director of Auditing within the Office of Inspector General (OIG).

 

In accordance with Section 20.055 (6)(c), Florida Statutes, the Inspector General and staff shall have access to any records, data, and other information of the State Agency as deemed necessary to carry out the duties of the position, including information exempt in Chapter 119, Florida Statutes. The incumbent actively obtains, analyzes, and maintains highly confidential information, and is responsible for handling such information with discretion to ensure its integrity and confidentiality.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Specific duties include:

  • Independently performing internal audits in accordance with the auditing standards as outlined in Chapter 20.055, Florida Statutes. The following types of audits could be conducted: compliance, performance, contract, information systems, financial, and management reviews;
  • Conducting follow-up audits to identify progress of corrective actions in response to audit findings and recommendations;
  • Assisting the Director of Auditing in conducting the annual risk assessment of the Agency to determine areas with the highest risk of fraud, waste, and abuse. Risk assessment results are used to select audit projects required under Section 20.055 (6) (1), Florida Statures, as well as inform Agency management with areas of concern;
  • Assisting the Director of Auditing with the annual report;
  • Assisting the Director of Auditing as a liaison with external auditors, providing appropriate responses to external audit findings/recommendations, coordinating entrance and exit conferences and audit responses, and tracking all corrective actions related to internal and external findings;
  • Maintaining and improving professional knowledge and skills through continuing educational opportunities, review of office literature, reference materials and current periodicals, attending staff meetings and professional networking. It is a requirement of the OIG’s office to maintain 80 hours of continuing professional education every two years;
  • Preforming other duties as necessary; and 
  • This position may require some travel.

  • Ability to collect, evaluate and analyze data to develop alternative recommendations, solve problems document workflow and other activities relating to the improvement of management practices;
  • Ability to organize data into logical format for presentation in reports, documents and other written materials;
  • Progressive ability/skill demonstrating compliance with auditing standards; and 
  • Progressive ability directing inspection team(s) activities which demonstrate compliance with applicable OIG and audit standards/procedures.

BASE SALARY:

  • $56,650.00

BACKGROUND:
